I could see them take the exact same.

It'd be pretty funny if Ebs takes like a penny more per year just to brag about how he makes more money than Hall.

id like to see same term @ 5.5m for ebs. his top end will most likely not be as high as halls.

I think he will definitely get less or the same as Hall.

I know that most people think that he'll get the same cap hit as Hall or even less (NO WAY) but i'll say more. Eberle is coming off of a big season and is represented by Meehan's agency so i'll say 6 yrs 39 mil.

If for the same term (7 years), Eberle should get slightly more just because he's a year older. Regardless of the new rules around UFA status in the new CBA, Eberle will have to give up one more year. All else equal, this should equate to more money.

Same contract for both would be nice. There would be no bitterness as to why one makes more than the other, be it from the fans, media, management/ownership or the players themselves.

Personally...if I were Eberle I would feel very confident about out-producing Hall next year. Certainly not by a gigantic margin...but...enough that it might matter if he was negotiating a contract.

I think Eberle is doing the Oilers a favor by signing a deal in the next couple of weeks.

If, for some reason, his agents (who are Hall's agents) feel more than Hall is justified, certainly then we won't see a deal signed and it'll have to wait a year, methinks. You can't sign Eberle long term based on that one year.

I would say the chances are very high that he gets the same $6m average that Hall got, unless it's for a term that goes into his UFA years, in which he will get a more for those UFA years, raising his yearly average salary above $6m. But I'll guess a contract of 5 years length, 6 million cap hit.

So your saying his top end wont be as high as Halls? Then I ask you this. What is Eberle's top end in your opinion. I ask only because your suggesting that Eberle hasnt hit his potencial yet and he was 16th in scoring on a 29th place team. What are the salarys of the fifteen players who out scored him last season? And also how good do you think Hall is going to be? Top five in points?

I think he'll get 6yrs @ around 6M. I think he'll be easier for us to sign to a retirement contract after that, which will then help us retain his buddy Hall when his contract is up a year after.

Hall and Eberle have different agents.

Hall is represented by Bobby Orr's agency. Eberle by Don Meehan's Newport Sports.

i really hopes he gets the exact same....

i have a quesion...which party do you guys think would be most adverse to the same contract, mgmt or ebs camp? i think its a little silly for either to ask for more/less. they are equally important, same contract status, similar statistics.

oilers should offer it, eberle should take it.

The only thing that's different is that Eberle is older, and I beleive that makes his UFA eligibility kick in 1 year sooner. So he would be giving up a year that he could be playing under what some might call his retirement contract.

UFA currently kicks in after 7 seasons or when you are 27.

Eberle played his first season at the age of 20. He is a UFA in 5 seasons time same as Hall.

if Eberle was smart (which he is btw) he will sign this summer... he is very unlikely to produce at the same level as last year, as lots of articles and people have mentioned this summer... "strike while the iron is hot" and all

i don't know what he'll end up signing for, too many variables to guess.... i don't think his high-end is as good as hall's is and i don't think last year is going to be his normal year, so i voted less

Keep in mind that Eberle is a couple years older than Hall. Hall two years down the road will likely produce better than Eberle did this year. That's something I'm sure they look at when making comparables.
