KV for me again. Then Murray.

Are we stopping at 20 or are we going to 25 this year?

I think this off-season is so boring, and we have so many prospects this year, that we can run the polls through #25.

Sundqvist. Size, skill, and hard to play against.

Add Sill.

deciding between:

Anton "The Hobgoblin" Zlobin
Matt "Echo Canyon" Murray - one internet high-five for whoever gets that one
Josh "The Grim Reaper" Archibald - two internet high-fives for this one

My brother was a huge Sonic Youth fan. I know way too much about them by default.

Anyone who has Kevin "glass" Veilleux over Archibald is out of their mind. And I like KV's potential, but that is just nuts.

Maybe I care to think of his glass body as half full. I'm an optimist though.

I'm curious . . . how do you guys rank the remaining options as far as upside? Who has the highest ceiling and why?

Archibald for me. I like what Sundqvist and Zlobin could be, but they are still a ways away - especially Sundqvist.

I tend to favor upside more the further we go down the list, unless that player has shown any significant signs of not being able to reach it yet (see: Veilleux).

Can't believe so many people are voting for "Glassman" here. I went with Archibald-but Sundqvist, Zlobin, and Murray were real close....

Zatkoff seems like he could be a legit back-up goalie right now on a lot of teams. He's put up solid numbers over his 3 years in the AHL and was great in college. Looks like the type of player who just needs that one chance to stick in the NHL. A really underlooked signing this off-season and could be serviceable as a back-up if one the top two get hurt. Better option than Thiessen at the least. I can't remember the last I've seen a goalie who looks as small as Thiessen in net.

Agreed Thiessen just isn't an NHL caliber goalie.

What is turning me off Zatkoff are his abysmal playoff numbers with Manchester. Both in 10-11 and 11-12 he went into the post-season the clear #1 on the Monarchs, and both times lost it to young backup Martin Jones within only a few games. His ECHL playoff stats in 08-09 were also pretty bad, and his team suffered an upset loss in the 1st round. Three bad playoffs in a row must've contributed to the Kings not giving Zatkoff a QO. He's still got more upside than the Scott Munroes of this sport but 25 isn't an age where I still expect somebody with his pro career to break out. He'll give Thiessen some good competition but IMO neither has much long-term NHL upside anymore.

If there is a lockout this year, we should keep these polls going as long as possible.

Sounds disturbingly like MAF. Hope they both bust out of their post season slumps after the lockout.

Somewhere Brian Gibbons and Paul Thompson are nodding their heads.
