Nice. Will bet Eberle, RNH and probably Yakupov get more than him. I don't think Hall will ever be worth that much during the duration of his contract.. Albeit, I don't like him that much.

Hope it pays off for them, that is a pretty big commitment.

Some fun cap hit comparables for that Hall deal:
Henrik & Daniel Sedin - 5x$6.1MM
Henrik Zetterberg - 12x$6.08MM
Mike Cammalleri - 5x$6MM
Patrik Elias - 7x$6MM
Patrick Sharp - 5x$5.9MM
Jonathan Toews - 5x$6.3MM
Patrick Kane - 5x$6.3MM
Mike Richards - 12x$5.75MM
(all cap hits, not describing actual salaries which may vary from year to year)

That Hall extension is worse than the Skinner one.
Edit: are these GM's banking on a big salary rollback?

Well according to what i've seen (not a whole lot, granted) and from what Oilers fans say Hall is the future leader of that team. Other's may be skilled, but he looks like the only one of their uber talent bunch that has the take charge mentality they need.

That and long-term deals are capped. Just another second contract that is also a third.

Anyone know if Toews' deal was signed before or after his Conn Smythe?

Well some of those Oilers moves have me pretty confused. They got Justin Schultz and I'm a big Petry fan (as a top four guy, not necessarily top pairing or #1), but ugh, that defense.

Thanks. Guess that makes this one look a little better then. Even though Toews had 13 points in 17 playoff games compared to Hall's 0 in 0.

Does anybody else pay attention to PHT religiously like I do? If not here is a little tidbit of what happened this morning regarding the CBA:

It makes me sick to think that a lockout may happen AGAIN under Bettman's watch. Last time I was disappointed with the players, this time the tables have turned towards the owners.

Bettman's stupidity aside.......so this is what it takes to finally get Walsh to shut the #@$! up?! Miracles do happen.

Skinner's contract was just a stepping stone. This was exactly what I figured. They see Skinner's contract and go why not?

I thought Winnipeg and Kane were working on an extension? So many mixed messages.

Ten busts in the 2000s and none of them are Wild picks. Amazing.

They are but with both sides being quiet right now, it doesn't take much to stir the pot. I think he'll hold out until 9/15. In his position, he'd be smart to do that. It only increases his leverage. And the whole "face of the franchise" stuff with Scheifele is total crap. I don't buy it for a second.
