There's no way the leafs do lupul and Gardiner... Hopefully Kane goes a ppg like lupul did and then the leafs are adding their most valuable asset? Why would that make any sense for the leafs?

buddy , the jets missed the playoffs last season and most hockey fans would expect them to repeat that

as confident as you are in your current roster and rookies you dont just miss the playoffs for years and then say you only could use ONE player from a back to back presidents trophy team

you're delusional

Evander Kane is on the verge of signing a multi-year deal to play in Winnipeg.
Kane wanting out, a rumor that has been refuted, makes no sense for his career. Jets will match any offer.
I have watched all the games as well, and to me it looked like there is a lot of smiles on the Jets faces. Its fun being in that arena as a fan, as a player it would be insane.

Trading Kane would be a bad idea for the Jets. His worth to the Jets right now far outweighs any of these offers for Neal, Edler, Subban, and the Oiler leftovers. Kane would leave a big hole. Bobby Ryan is the caliber Winnipeg would be looking at though. So far, the best of the proposals here.

Because Lupul has a long history of mediocre or injured play. Because if you're not completely optimistic you might view Lupul's 2011/2012 season as a perfect chance to offload him while his value is high.

What would WPG be asking for from the Flyers perspective? Not a lot of defense to trade but Voracek+ or Simmonds+? Or maybe B.Schenn/L. Schenn for Kane/one of WPG's defensemen? perhaps Schenns+Read for Kane/Byfuglien?

Gotta think the Jets value Kane high enough to ask for B. Schenn or Couts. If I'm the Jets I'm looking at Couts, if he's not available I'm not interested in continuing the conversation.

Devils wouldn't be able to come close to what it would take to get E. Kane mainly because they can't give up a first round pick. If I had to structure a deal with somewhat of a fair value around it, it would be like this:

Tallinder/Volchenkov+Tedenby+defensive prospect+2nd or 3rd. The defensive prospect would probably have to be a guy not named Merrill or Gelinas, although I'd consider Gelinas if it were to get Kane. Not sure the Jets would like that deal, or even need another defenseman, but it's the best the Devils could reasonably offer. I highly doubt that's enough for the Jets to bite, and other teams could probably easily top that offer.

If the Devils were to execute a trade like that:

Kovalchuk-Zajac-E.Kane
Elias-Henrique-Zubrus
Butler-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

EDIT: After rethinking that, that deal is eerily similar to the one for Kovalchuk. Now granted, Kane is younger and didn't want out but I couldn't help but see the correlation.

I want no part of Kane .

Although asking price from Flyers should be B Schenn and Coburn. No way it happens, but that is what Jets would need.

Because they have pro scouts who watched the Flyers last season.

Edit:
Also, because Couturier was fantastic last season. Who wouldn't want to add a player of his caliber to their lineup.

Also also, maybe the Jets have a case of drafter's remorse.

One year of 27 points isnt going to change their mind
Let alone trading a kid just 2 years older that just scored 30 goals

Sorry to break it too you

I don't think the Jets want to trade Kane. I really don't.

The only scenario where I can see a trade is if Kane he refuses to sign a contract. That's it.

If, and that's a big unlikely if, Kane is going to be traded, I'd want a player of Couts caliber.

True, all about points. Ignore him in playoffs and reg season going toe to toe in key situations vs the Top players in the world while Schief was average in Jr and getting outplayed by younger players in major tournies. If you keep saying it and fighting it, you just might convice yourself the Jets made the right pick. Christ Hamilton and Forsberg >>>>>>>Schief and Trouba, They ****ed up more than just passing on Couts.

Not trying to be a dick, but judging Couts rookie year by his points is extremely silly. Not that it matters anyway, Flyers have their center to combat Geno, Flyers will not trade him.

Why would Toronto give up a guy who out produced Kane AND thier best defenceman with potential? Overvaluing Kane much?

That would be the type of return the Jets would need though. Jets have full control over Kane, but if they feel the need to move him, they will need a big move to justify moving a player like Kane with his potential.

I'm a big Leaf fan and would do Kane for Gardiner and Lupul. Dude is awesome. 63 goals before his 21st birthday, and size and aggression to boot. Obviously, I'd prefer not to do that deal, but I'd do it none the less.

2-1st, a 2nd and Nik Kulemin, is my offer.
