1-1-2 and 12/16 at the dot through 2 periods against Shawinigan.

Edit - 1-2-3 and 14/21 now.... and before it became a rout (assist on the first goal, scored the second, assist on the fourth... it's 8-1 right now).

Nice to see him put up some points but the team that Shawinigan iced was beyond terrible..

Edit: Anyone else notice that HF finally rated Girgensons and Grigorenko?
They got a 7.0B and 7.5C, respectively.
Big meh to those ratings.

Shawinigan is going to be terrible all season long, they better get used to it!

Grigorenko's pass to Duclair on the first goal of the game was nasty. They were on a 2 on 1. The defenseman slides on the ice to prevent the pass but Grigs sends it anyway to Duclair with a saucer that passes over the defenseman and Duclair scored on a one timer.

Duclair might be a nice draft option

He should be taken between 15-25 in a deep draft.

And buffalo would likely select 12-18. He could look good with Grig long term

Grigorenko quote from last night chirping a bit Team Russia:

"I had forgotten how special it was to play here, said Grigorenko, smiling after the game. I could not wait to play this first game." He had not played for almost two weeks, since the Canada-Russia series. "I mean nothing against Russia, but here, the game is more structured and you know where everyone is on the ice."

Not that his commitment to North America should have been doubted, but good to read that anyway. Kid seems to be very committed to makign the NHL and doing things the right way.

Regier traveled to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to see first-round pick Mikhail Grigorenko play for Russia in the final two games of the four-game Canada-Russia challenge, a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the famous Summit Series. Grigorenko is still working back from a bout of mono that hindered him at the end of his junior season with Quebec.

"I thought he was good in Game Three and looked a little tired in Game Four," Regier said. "I saw some of the video from [the two games in] Russia and I think like all young players he's a work in progress. We see some things he's strong in and some things that he's going to have to improve."

Yesterday's goal, another pass from Grigo. They seem to be building from last season's chemistry. Hope Grigs will come back from Buffalo. Combine these 2 with Kucherov, there shouldn't be another trio in the CHL who'll be able to match their productivity...... At least on paper!

Not to rain on the parade...but remember last time we thought we should get a teammate of a first round pick because of their chemistry? Not saying Duclair will turn out like Khokhlachev...but just food for thought.

Nice pic but he didn't score on that play. Duclair's goal happened when Grigorenko's shot deflected on him.

How exactly did Koko turn out? He's going to the KHL because he thinks he'll improve more there playing against men than he would in the OHL, wasn't AHL-eligible when the decision was made, and has no chance of making Boston's roster this season. He's told the Boston coaches and media why he's doing this and has committed to return when he's closer to being NHL-ready. I see no problem with what he did.

Khokhlachev hasn't turned into anything yet, just like most of his 2011 draft peers.
He went back to Russia, but his contract with Spartak is for one year and one year only.
He has a contract with the Bruins that will no slide after this season and he'll be responsible for fulfilling it.
It's actually a good option for him I think.
As I've said before, if Grigorenko isn't ready for the NHL in 13-14, I'm fine with him signing with CSKA for a year.

Duclair is a good prospect and he fills some needs for us too (skilled forward, decent size, bit of an edge, LW).
He's highly skilled, skates very well, and while he isn't physically developed yet, has a bit of a hot streak to him.
I started to become a fan of his after I watched him at the CWG last year, which was before he played with Grigorenko or was even drafted into the Q yet.

Unlike Khokhlachev, Duclair "should" be an early to mid 1st round pick, based on his skills alone and if he continues to progress as he's doing right now. Despite the fact he's playing with one of the top centres in the CHL.

We'll be able to see the difference (with and without Grigs) once Grigs gets the call to join the Buffalo camp. If ever there is an NHL season......

I got word that Toronto was asking many questions on Duclair at the U-18 camp and labbeled him as the top skater

Sorry, but this is hilarious:
Quote:
In terms of boom-or-bust potential, he is certainly Buffalo's most high-risk, high-reward prospect. He has the talent to be a first-line center, but there is also a good chance he becomes a third-line power forward with some offensive ability.
http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...prospect-pool/

Not only is projecting Grigorenko to be a power forward just ridiculous, but saying that he has the talent to be a first line center contradicts the rating that was just given to him (7.5C).

Yeah, I could not believe this. Going from consensus 2nd overall to 7.5C in 2 months. After being PPG in playoffs WHILE having mono. In comparison Galcheyunk gets a 8.5C while not playing all year and COLBERG gets a 8.0! You should see the Habs ratings, I think whoever writes these are Habs fans IMO. They did give JGL a 7.5D, moved him up.

Well, each team has their own writer and some are more biased/ridiculous than others.
I've already said that I disagree with some of the ratings, but they're subjective.

The real problem I have is that it's stated that his upside is a first line player in the write up and his rating doesn't match that opinion.
The rating system becomes pointless if it's not going to be utilized correctly.
