In the NHL 13 demo you get a peek at the new look!

I don't understand Hershey, with all their history, why they have to keep changing their logo. I've been to a few games at the Giant Center and I think I lost count at 30 different jerseys. I think in Rochester you see less than 5.

I get the feeling it comes down to throwing as much merch out there as the diehards will buy. It's a cynical view, but there are a lot of sports franchises that feel that way. They can afford to make these changes because they know people will lap it up.

Seeing only the Bears' tuckus.... looks kind of plain and generic to me.

This is a logo change, the fist since they moved to Giant Center in 2002. They've had a few 3rd jerseys and a lot of differing color schemes for charity auctions, but the official logo itself has been pretty steady over the years.

Skating bear holding a stick >>>>> everything else. That was just such a classic logo; there was no need need to make any kind of change to begin with, IMO.

Don't care for the new logo, much prefer the old one. This thread however reminded me that Zach Hamill got traded to the Washington Capitals.

.... you know what.... call me crazy, but why don't they make a logo with the head of that bear as the entire logo? Just crop and zoom in and you actually have a decent look. Maybe update it a tad, but I think it'd be better than what they have now or what they're going to have based on that meh image included in the OP.

If Hershey is going to change the logo, I hope they do better than the Crunch did when the ditched "Crunchman" and brought in "Al the Ice Gorilla".
The original Crunch Emblem with the 'Ice Gorilla" concept had the stick being broken over the critter's head, hence the direction of the gloves. Those with a politically correct point of view objected, with references to the McSorely-Brashear incident being brought up. The Crunch opted to move the stick to "Al's" mouth, making it appear he was biting the stick in half. Unfortunately, they failed to rotate the gloves accordingly. That is why when you look at the emblem, the stick is being bitten in half but the gloves are angled as to holding something over the head.
This was documented in the local fishwrap, however I do not have the time to waste trying to find stories in that piece of garbage online.

Where has it been stated that they're even definitely changing their logo? Only "proof" I see is a partial screen shot from a video game which may or may not have bothered to get an accurate logo to include in their game.

The Bears' website seems to indicate that a logo change is coming. If you click on a bear print in the upper left corner of the site, a box opens up that show all the logos in the history of the franchise. At the end of the list, there is a blank space with the words "8-29 Hibernation is over."

The Bears Facebook page has also been dropping subtle hints over the past few weeks. The team's Facebook page has a picture of a Bear Claw with "8-29" posted inside that has been put up on Chocolate Avenue in Hershey. Seems pretty overwhelming what is happening, even absent any "proof."

I'll buy that - thanks for the info.

All their new logos in one place:

Personally, I like the bear head logo by itself, but the other ones are meh to decent.

Good video, but I am disliking the jerseys, especially the 3rd and the dark.

Cool video. This isn't a huge complaint or anything like that, but it's hard to believe that a major company like HERCO didn't put out a marketing program more original than simply grabbing Penn St.'s "We are..." slogan. I know many Bear fans are also PSU fans, but even if these were good times for PSU, the new Hershey video would still look like a copy, IMO.
