Evan Brophey

This is a guy still without a contract and with a lockout looming the future does not look good for him. How was he with your organization and any idea why he did no longer fit into their plans?

Seems like he was just a guy they signed to fill a roster spot on the farm while our guys develop. I thought he fared well in limited minutes with the 3 game call-up but apparently didn't do enough to consistently impress at the AHL level to warrant them keeping him around for another year.

I thought this about the THN dude, but that's Mike Brophy. Looks like he was an early cut last year, and was a callup for 3 games after that. Must have been the 3 games I missed last year, because I don't remember him.

Found a little write up on him though. Also looks like he was a promising talent in his draft year, but scouts started to question his heart.

I think Danielle's got more potential than Evan does.

Seriously guys do you not remember him?

I guess Peltier, O'Neill, Macias, MacKenzie, Vernace and guys are all forgotten as well.

I remember that O'Neill was as bad as he was ugly. And god damn he was ugly.

No, I think it was Elf, as in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Zhy_5aD7ks

I'd say only MacKenzie was a similarity. All those other guys were property of the Avs for multiple years, and all but Vernace were drafted by the Avs. Brophey was only Av property for a year.

Since he's no longer with the team, I'm gonna keep thinking he likes ALF. It's funnier that way.

I was actually only talking about guys who played less than 8 games as an Av.

On a side note, I didn't realize how well traveled Vernace has been for a player that never really stuck in the NHL.

SJ drafted him, then traded him to the Avs. Then he signed as a FA in Atlanta, who then traded him back to SJ for future considerations. Then he signed as a FA in Tampa, who then traded him to Florida, who then traded him to the Rangers coincidentally for Wolski.

I never knew a great deal about his game, but I don't remember him having a very high potential that so many teams would be interested in trading for him.
