Until the Islanders move some muscle to the top lines their in trouble, they have whats needed in the Kid Martin.
So someone else knows the game? Nice. If you have elite skill throughout the lineup, you need a Martin or stronger. If you have little to no skill, you need A FEW Martins. We had Martin and Haley to throw opponents off their game, the defensive forwards, the scoring skill, the two way play......and we went Reasoner over Haley why? Not to mention I'd put Martin in Rolston's spot and dress Gillies until someone better came along.

Balance. Arbour knew it. Bowman knew it. Wang.....no like fighting. Ballet is better.

The idea is to win in every scenario, and that also means Nielson has to be able to hit harder and Gillies or goon designate has to be able to backcheck or at minimum legally stop a rush. (JT has some nice moxy FWIW!)

We're closer this year than any team since Nolan to being able to face 29 teams and compete. Our division just got VERY tough. Thankfully, Scott Scrotum is gone!

I don't think so. I think 21/22 yr olds Ness, De Haan and Donovan are closer to sticking. Each is coming off his AHL rookie seson, each got a short callup to the Isles in 2011-2012 and looked good.

I don't think so, especially after the Nino disaster the past season. Then again, I have never seen him play, so I can't judge based on performance

He's pretty good, but I agree with the op, you guys have several Dmen coming up, he wouldn't get much playing time..

I do think he's close to NHL ready.

Yeah, I'm sure next year he'll get a spot. But right now there are guys who deserve spots, and getting another year in juniors won't hurt him. Most defensemen need another year in juniors.

It depends on unattainable bonus amounts in his deal.

I will be so mad if Reinhart sticks, unless he completely blows away expectations at camp. We have three young D-men who are hungry to finally make the roster, no reason our new draft pick should make it unless he truly deserves it.

It would be a terrible, terrible sign of things if Reinhart makes this team.

There's no way this kid should be seen as being readier for the show than any of de Haan, Ness, Donovan or even Wishart. He simply doesn't have the experience and it's not like he's a Chris Pronger ready to jump right in.

If you think he might be, you're likely investing more weight in his draft position than his actual stage of development.

In a first year fantasy keeper league, would Niño be a good pick? Will he play top 6? Will he reach is potential?

Probably not for this year. As many have speculated, he may need time in the AHL to start the season. He hasn't earned a place in the top 6 so unless the Isles suddenly give him a chance, it's unlikely he'll get that type of ice time at the NHL level.

As for potential, despite his horrendous season last year... his upside remains unchanged IMO. It just might take a little longer than we'd like.

Yup. Losing Anisimov and replacing him internally with Brian Boyle isn't going to work.

And Mitchell, who, by no means was a great player but fit the term "depth" well.

And Prust

Haha, good point. I think we've discussed our roster to death by now. Plus, a big part of being an Isles fan is wanting the Rangers to fall flat on their face. The reverse applies to them.

i love our fourth line. but that is it. 3 totally unproven lines, with the wrong makeup of toughness, speed and size. Look at our 2nd line. Real speedsters. While our first line lacks anyone to capitalize on jt's supreme passing. Our third line's transition is great...too bad boyes isnt managing to keep up.

And nino and strome on our 2nd line? Is this a play for the first 2013?
