Seriously though, good deal. I'd pay him 7 years $5 500 000
Why would Seguin give up an additional UFA year and accept less $$$ than Skinner?

Because not every single player on earth is compared to Jeff Skinner .

I like Seguin more, but Skinner also has 10 more goals and 20 more points in a two year career.

EDIT: Also, at Pre-Madonna.

6 years 36 million. My guess. Same per year as Hall

Well, if you're Seguin you aren't taking a 1-2 year deal, and the Bruins will never sign him to a 4 year deal. So the only options are 5-7 years, similar to Hall, Skinner, Tavares, etc, or a 3 year deal.

My betting money is 5/30 or 6/36, can't see him loving a 3 year deal at this point.

Is Boston planning on keeping Horton?
They can LTIR Savard whenever they want, clearing 4.1 (I believe).

Our general manager is good and will sell the team concept and winning. The other comparable players you listed play on bad teams and or bad organizations so they had to be overpaid.

The proof will be in the pudding won't it? What is your guess? Mine is $5.75-$6 million for 5-7 years.

Doubt they go that high without buying UFA years.

Im thinking something like 4-5 years 5.5-5.75.

Id be very content with the Hall deal though. The last 4ish years would look like a steal.

We shall see.

I don't think selling the team concept is going to be enough for Seguin to pass up money that comparable players got a couple weeks before him.

I think people forget these kids aren't in the war room that often, and it's the agent's job to get the most money, so I can't see him taking less than 5 million.

That's the thing, with a 7 year deal buying 3 UFA years it always costs more, but in the end the last half of the deal could look very good for the team if the kids continue to develop into all stars.

I think Seguin will sign a Hall-like, Skinner-like deal.

I would like to be a fly on the wall during the negotiations, if only to see if the Bruins do try to start with an offer in the 4.5-5 M per season range.

I'll take a stab at $5.8625 over 6 years which is right in the middle between Skinner and Hall.

We will see soon enough but I'll bet you are wrong. Agents use comparables, it's the way the business works. He should change his agent if he ends up with a worse deal than Skinner.

I'm the guy who sees a young star player come up for renewal and I think "sign for ten years at a minor discount!" so m opinion on this is along those lines. I'm just saying I can see the Bruins giving him a real second contract.

It'll be interesting to watch for sure, I would be surprised if it's less than 5 years TBH.
