RDS: Flyers/Habs talking about Subban (Mod Warning #441)
There's this thing about Bryzgalov, and it's that I'm pretty sure his time in Phoenix predates that of Dave Tippett. Indeed, I'm reasonably certain he came in when Wayne Gretzky was coaching, and had as many years under Gretzky as he did under Tippett - and say what you will about Wayne Gretzky and his legacy and his many, many contributions to hockey, he was indisputably a really bad coach. Indeed, if I recall correctly Bryzgalov's best career numbers in a single season came under Gretzky, not Tippett.
But, sure, he's all because of the system, right?
came here to post this. thanks for saving me the time
I was not stunned by the fact you dont want Bryz. No one does.
Why would you be content to move Price, a top 3 goalie in the league, for Couts? He will be a hell of a player but, seriously?
Especially when you said youd be ok with adding to Price in order to get Couts...
I wonder how many top 3 goalie in the league there is. In the past year i found 16 goalie being called a top 3 in different thread.
Here is the list of all the goalie being called a "top 3 goalie in the league":
Thomas
Rask
Kiprusoff
Lunqvist
Rinne
Price
Hiller
Eliott
Luongo
Howard
Miller
Ward
Brodeur
Varlamov
Vokoun
I will give to you that Price is one of the 16 Top 3 goalie in the league. even if he never been voted in the Vezina finalist.
You should rather ask why flyers fan would not be content to getting Webber + Eller + Price, a top 3 goalie in the league for Couturier. It should amaze you more than my statement.

the fact that you called price a top 3 goalie in the league is a little carried away, i get your trying to prove a point but the fact is he isn't, top 5 maybe, top 10 definitely but i'd probably say my top 3 are quick, king henrick, and rinne, followed by howard and miller
If you think Bryz have value then you can trade him for anything you expect, but just not in Montreal.
If you think he doesnt have value, then you cna just put him in the minor.
The question i am asking you is: do the upgrade from Bryzgalov to Price, + Eller + Webber worth Couturier.
If i add Dalton Thrower 7.0 c defenseman drafted 51st overall 2012. can it convince you?
if your asking me if the upgrade from a good goalie to a pretty good goalie by moving coots for those guys then no i dont move coots for anybody on the canadiens but subban +, i'd do the schenn brothers for subban, i think bryz would have to be included in a price deal just because of cap issues
Why not throw in Subban, Gorges, Pacioretty, Galchenyuk and a couple of 1st round picks too..
Thats where i am going gradually, until i can reach an agreement.
Couturier is very high on my list while Price at 6 500 000$ is low. So i am willing to give what i consider an offer good enough a flyer fan would think about it.
The problem i often see is all these Montreal fans telling me Price have an incredible trade value. But when we are actually trying to trade him, i cant even have a couturier for him, i need to add to convince. I am all aware this trade should be a short term downgrade to the team, but i think we could find a good goalie on the summer 2013 market.

So do we at least agree that Subban have more trade value than Price? At least to the flyers!
Should he earn more $ as well?
Personally, i dont want to trade Subban, he have the CH tattooed on his heart and he want to spend his career here, i want to keep a player like that forever.
But at the same time i really want Couturier! That is why im trying to find another agreement by offering you our supposed most prized player: Price.
No, i dont want nothing to do with Bryzgalov at all, its your problem, do with him as you want.
I just want Price for Couturier straight up. But dont forget down the line Price will eat 6 500 000$ cap space that will not be allowed elsewhere on the lineup.
I can't say I blame you for feeling that way about Bryzgalov's contract, ha. If Bryz didn't have a no move clause then maybe I would be willing to blow Ed Snider's money and waive him, but he's not waivable, and we couldn't swing both obviously.
The deal goes from a "hell yes" to a "maybe" if we have to figure out what to do with Bryz, as we're probably going to have to give something up just to get rid of that contract. The value for Couts is fine, Price is great, but Philly's situation sort of has them with few options as far as goaltending changes go.

If we trade Braydon Coburn what is the point of the deal for us?
We are downgrading defensively at two positions and upgrading offensively at the same ones. We scored the third most goals in the league last year, this is a step even further away from tackling the deficiencies Philadelphia needs to address. In addition to that, I'm not entirely confident that Couturier won't be playing hockey at a similar level to Plekanec as soon as next year anyway. So we would make a lateral move at center while sacrificing upside to do it, and pay more for the player we have slotted in there.

to the flyers yes subban holds more value, if a deal involving price and the flyers were to happen it would have to be a 3 way to a team in goalie need like chicago, toronto, or florida
maybe a deal where
mtl gets coots,emery
chi gets price
phi gets leddy/keith (whoever chi would rather part with), boland
but once again idk if the flyers or chi go for it just because of coots and leddys potential
Are you kidding? Price is one of the best young goalies is the NHL, and you're willing to trade him, so he can be replaced by Cedrick Desjardins. Who is 26, and has just two games of NHL experience.
