Agreed. People are convicting these kids already before any trial. They read the article and start convicting them. Its human ignorance at its highest level. If guilty of course punishment is a must. But these kids deserve a trial.

This has been beaten to death and there are those who've chosen to keep this going ad nausea. Let the process play out and the actual facts will finally start coming out and then once a Court of Law makes a decision you can then banter on.

Mercier, Miller, Pastorius and Jenkins sent home after red-white game.....Hughes still around, waiting to find out if he made the team. McCann looks good.

Cuts posted on Soo website.

Sault Star said they were trying to sign Hughes then later that night they released him. Anyone know what happened?

He will sign a contract shortly, the team just felt he would be better off playing lots in midget then bouncing in and out of the line-up in a 4th line role. They see him eventually as a top 6 forward and don't see the benefit of him being used sparingly this season.

Ok thanks. I thought when it said they released him that they released the rights to him, freeing him to sign elsewhere.

Didn't make it out to the game but was told by someone that was there that Gudbranson dropped Thibodeau with one punch after the two dropped the gloves over a dirty hit by Thibodeau. Resulted in automatic ejections about halfway thru the 2nd period.

Alderson was having a strong game but got ejected for a head hit. Broll scored on a breakaway and again in the shootout.

He said McCann, Ganly and Mallette all looked good. Staples and Morgan failed to stand out.

Murray looked good, was making a lot of big saves.

Hounds only dressed 10 forwards and 8 defensemen. Fraser Turner was used as a forward.

Overall not a bad start considering everything.

Well, congratulations Hounds...everyone doubted thier ability to pull of this coup, but Sergei Tolchinskiy has arrived and skated ten minutes today on the Soo Ice.

As a fan of Euros, I am delighted that this kid has been coaxed over.

Hounds cut three players the other day (Mintz, Jambrosich and Morgan). They are expected to cut another 3 or 4 after tonights game to get the roster down to 25 or 26.

Cousins, Fritsch and Petaccio are slated to play the last two games. Tolchinsky won't see his first action until tomorrow night.

Nichols is expected to start and split the net with Millen tonight, would expect Murray will play tomorrow against Saginaw.

Remaining in camp:

Forwards: Fritsch, Cousins, Petaccio, Broll, Schumacher, Tolchinsky, Dempsey, Mallette, Schiller, Staples, Mascarin, Alderson, Quesnele, McCann, Halagian, Smith and Kirkup

Guys on the bubble: Staples, Kirkup, Schiller, Mallette, Mascarin, Quesnele

Staples isn't a bad option for the top 6 but with Tolchinsky reporting he may have lost that chance. Mallette has been a good energy guy in the games he's played in. Quesnele is still recovering from shoulder surgery and hasn't been able to participate in any scrimmages or games. Haven't heard much about Kirkup, Schiller or Mascarin.

Defense: Sproul, Gudbranson, Nurse, Miller, Spinozzi, Ganly, Turner, Fuller, Clutsam

Guys on the bubble: Turner, Fuller, Clutsam

From what I've heard Ganly has played well and earned the 6th spot so it's between the other three to get that 7th spot.

Goalies: Murray, Nichols, Millen

Fully expect the tandem is going to be Murray and Nichols with Millen filling in for injuries.

Thank you Paco, a most informative read.
Any idea if any web site radio stations are broadcasting the game tonight?
Would love to tune into hear Tolchinskiys progress!

Was at the Sudbury vs Soo game last night, McCann is looking really good.

I also got a good chance to see him at the OHL Cup with London AAA last year, so I'm not really surprised, but it's still good to know he's transitioned well to the OHL.

Good to hear. He played Junior B with the London Nationals after the OHL cup ended and fit right in and produced. He is a heck of a player. On a personal level, Mccann is a great kid, humble kid. I bet Peterbourough regrets passing on him. Cornel looks lost and somewhat scared so far. I bet the Petes are a tad concerned.

did Tolchinsky look fast enough to be elusive at this level?

Just going off the Hounds twitter account but apparently Tolchinsky had two breakaways but was unable to finish on either of them.

Noticed he wore #14 instead of the #28 he was supposed to wear. Guess that means Kirkup was cut? No more cuts have been announced and they are still sitting at 29 players.

Dubas really needs to look at adding a top end overage center. There must be someone out there available with the NHL lock out. Looks like we have decent wingers with both size and skill. Defense and goaltending look pretty good. I really hope Mallette makes the team he plays the game hard with lots of intensity. He would be a perfect 4th line energy guy as a 16 year old. Really liking McCann and see him being pretty productive as our 3rd line center. I think the C should go to Sproul with the A's going to Miller and Broll.

Roster cut down to 25 with Millen, Turner and Mascarin re-assigned. Also Quesnele is being listed as inactive as he still recovers from off-season shoulder surgery.

Leaves them sitting at 15 forwards, 8 defenseman and 2 goalies.

Anyone care to take a stab at the lines?

My guess:

Broll - Cousins - Fritsch
Schumacher - McCann - Alderson
Dempsey - Petaccio - Tolchinsky
Halagian - Smith - Mallette

extras: Schiller, Kirkup, Staples

Apparently they used Alderson at centre the last exhibition game, not sure if that's going to be something they are going to try. If they do you could see him shift to C on the 2nd line, Staples go in on the right side and shift McCann and Petaccio down bumping Smith out of the lineup.

Sproul - Miller
Nurse - Gudbranson
Spinozzi - Ganly

extras: Fuller, Clutsam

I've heard Ganly looks good but not sure if they'd go with two OHL rookies on one pairing. If not you could see Fuller get in for one of the two guys in the bottom pairing.

Edited to add they will be going with 4 assistant captains to start the season with Sproul, Miller, Nurse and Broll getting the nod in the home opener against Plymouth. A little surprised Cousins didn't get one but with the charges I guess it's not unexpected.
