Nhl players signing deals with others teams incase of lockout

I thought Id make a thread about players signing overseas

Heres the one I know of:

Malkin close to KHL deal (in case of lockout)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl...9625--nhl.html

"Reports out of Russia" say Evgeni Malkin has signed with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League. Is this simply the fact they hold his rights or has he agreed to jump if there's an NHL lockout? [Post-Gazette; UPDATE: "Sport-Express, a Russian newspaper, reported that Malkin would play for CSKA, which is based in Moscow, if the NHL doesn't work out a new collective bargaining agreement before the current one expires Sept. 15. J.P. Barry, Malkin's agent, confirmed that Malkin has had discussions with Magnitogorsk and unspecified teams in Moscow, but said nothing has been finalized." PG]

http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/...ts-say-650729/

Reports out of Russia say that Penguins center Evgeni Malkin has agreed to a contract to play for Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League if the start of the 2012-13 NHL season is delayed by a lockout.

Kovalchuk will likely be heading to SKA or Lokomotiv.

There is a catch. It was speculated that if players want to sign they will need to sign for the full season. I do not think we will have as many nhlers coming over here to europem as we did last time

How many NHL hockey players would risk their careers to play in the KHL, remember travel is not the safest.

They can make a decent living playing in other leagues as well. At least pay some bills and send a message to the NHL that they're not getting bullied around.

Anyhow, that won't change anything. The players will cave in before the owners.

I doubt Vinny Lecavalier and Patrik Elias will be rushing to repeat their Russia experiences

Elias contracted hepatitis while playing in Russia, thus he played only 38 games in 2005-06.

I remember seeing something about Nash and Thornton heading to Switzerland if all else fails, but I can't seem to find the thread/link.

With the Heat possibly being bought by Aquaman, I'd love to see a number of Canucks play there, across from my old campus.

Also, I'd bet money on the Sedin's going to Modo.

There was speculation that it was in their contracts but it was since debunked.

Teemu says he might play for Jokerit, he wants to wait to see what happens though.
