Chris Kreider - A Natural Winner at EVERYTHING?

Maybe this doesn't deserve its own thread. Today at the NHLPA Rookie Showcase, there was a tournament held for the rookies in NHL '13 and none other than Chris Kreider came out with the overall win.

Gold and Bronze WJC Medals, Beanpot Championships (MVP of 2011 Beanpot), 2 World Championship Appearances, 2 NCAA Hockey Championships, Scored 5 goals in playoffs without playing a regular season game (record), and now is the reigning NHL '13 Rookie Showcase champion.

Next up; Calder Trophy and Stanley Cup?

If this isn't thread-worthy, my bad. It's the summer and could be a LONG offseason ahead.

This kid is only 21 and he has quite the resume, that's for sure. Add a Cup, a Calder, and impressive stats the rest of the way, this kid is a sure fire USA hall-of-famer.

Too bad he never pitched the championship game in the Little League World Series

It's too bad he is rated 68 overall in NHL '13. That's just poor.

if homeboy puts up 20 g and 20/25 helpers in his first year, i am more than satisfied with that. im just as high or prob even higher on him as anybody since following him the past 3 years. we just need to have some tampered expectations and hope that he doesn't hit the wall towards the end of the year. pending we have a full 82 game season which i doubt.

If only he were Cuban, there would still be time

I heard his pizza is better than Drury's, though.

When that news reached Drury he made sure to not let it ruin his weekend.

I can't help but think some people will set themselves up for disappointment this season with this kid.

Not OP, just a trend I've seen in general.

If he pots 20 this year I'll be happy as a pig in ****.

Thing is, he has shown he has the ability to be a star. Will he attain star status next season? Just have to wait and see, but he has all the tools needed to be a force in the NHL.

I can see him pot 20-25 goals. With his skillset there is an outside chance that he scores more than that.

Didn't McDonagh also win the Rookie Showcase when he participated?

In the link above, it mentions that there will be a "Meet the Rookies" video segment soon; and their Facebook has some photos of the event.

Kreider got better and better. He wasn't using his size and strength in the Ottawa and Caps series. In the Jersey series,Kreider started to use his size and strength. He was finishing his checks. Opposing players were bouncing off him. The nerves were gone. Kreider had 3 goals in the Jersey series. He had a few more glorious scoring chances. Brodeur looked at how the goal in game 1 beat him and made the adjustment. Game 5 at the Garden. Brodeur made a couple of key stops on Kreider. In game 6,Kreider should have shot the puck when he was all alone but he tried to hit Boyle near the net for a deflection. Kreider is everything you want in a player. He is big, strong and fast. He can shoot the puck. The Rangers having both Nash and Kreider will create match up problems. They are both big guys who can skate. I have re-watched all of the Rangers games shown this summer on the NHL Network. All of the playoff games. Winter Classic. They even showed the Rangers/Avs when Varlamov was solid. You factor in Nash and Kreider, the dynamic of the team has changed. Torts was playing 1 of Dubinsky and AA on the 3rd line.

I think I know what you're talking about and I'm pretty sure there was a stick in his skates or on the ice where he was skating, but NBC wasn't really in the mood for detailed replays of penalties

Very impressive resume' for sure..But College hockey success does not necessarily mean your headed for greatness .. I for one am holding off crowning C.K the next "Jesus Chris Superstar" until i've seen him play a full season..Yes he scored some important goals in the Playoffs, but he also had some very noticable gaffs.. Keep in mind the new guy always get's the Lovin'.. First it was M.DZ..Than it was Stepan's turn to be king..Then it was MZ..Than it was Hags..Now it's Krieder's turn.. Remember fella's these are just kids..Ya never want to get too high or too low with any of them until they prove their worth over time..

yes, everyone knows that. however if you have been following CK for a while now, you'll know that even at worse case scenario, barring injury hes a lock to be a solid 3rd liner.

Thats not a terrible floor. his ceiling though is unmatched in any prospect we've had, probably since Alexei Cherepanov....its a shame that he passed away, he coulda been a damn good 1st line player.

I really hope people don't start with this stuff again. The 3 years of Drury were enough.
