heh, there's even talk about getting local councilors involved to get Danton in. While it's great to talk about how he's reformed etc, I don't really see them supporting an exception to the rule.

Party politics alone will surely stop them lending their voice in support?
Using what political influence they have to try and influence/circumvent the established visa procedure/regulations to get an ex-criminal convicted of a fairly serious offence into the country, easy meat for a media, butt hurt from Leveson, looking to have a pop at the political system.
Couldn't go in the end as I had to pick up my car at 4:00 from the garage after it conked out. I see they won handsomely though, 12-3.
That kind of result was expected, Sutton are a newly promoted team to Division 1 in the north. Plus overall the north league is a lower standard than the south.
Those ex-Flames junior guys the Hornets have signed must be wondering what kind of shack they call home now
From all reports the Hornets looked pretty slick and well drilled, think many will have written them off to easily.
Nah the hive is alright, it's better than nearly all the other rinks in the south
Yes Hornets did look good, the Streatham goalie stood on his head in the first period. They played much better as a team and were much faster, Jasik is a top player at this level and there is also Danny Hughes who did not play on Saturday. Disco is one of the best goalies at this level and will steal some games, they also have some quality youth on the roster and there were a few U18's playing who got plenty of shifts.
Good to see Fife has signed the full quota of imports. Not so happy to see the Devils call on the fans to come out in numbers of 1800 a game. Never a good sign when teams use that tool.Usually it just peeves folk off and they say hey man you put a good product on the ice.
EIHL was supposed to announce a new media partner this summer. But nothing yet?
Whilst I'm asking questions..... anybody have a good link that keeps regular updates on the National league?
Fife aren't going with a full quota of imports, not from the start anyway. They currently have 9 signed. I think they will probably pick up another around Xmas time. They won't go with 11. They voted against the increase.

That'a what I get for assuming when I read that Fife had completed their roster.
Should be interesting to see the attendance in Scotland this season with all teams within 90 minutes of each other. 8 games betwixt each other.
When you look at it the addition of the Scottish teams saved the league so it's important that they do well.
Fife for instance may not have survived had they not been invited to join the EIHL.
I doubt Dundee would have been happy to drop down to play in the barely more than rec hockey league that was being touted about as the alternative and Braehead would never have split from the EIHL whilst Neil Black owned them so who would Fife have played?

So much like the Q adding Maritime teams (sorry for the Canadian reference) they breathed life into each other.
I was just looking at it from the point of as London, Manchester, Newcastle fell out that there were turn key operations in Dundee and Fife ready to step in.
Now it's a matter of making the economics work.
The conference system should definitely help with the economics - not in reduced travel (Scottish travel vs Belfast travel) but more in the sense that every game has more importance behind it now, especially for the Gardiner conference. There's a greater chance of success, more reason to actually hand your cash over to watch a team that might actually win more often than not. In the case of Fife at least, I hope.

For both conferences. Less overnight stay...meals etc.
Benches won't be short as often as Brit players that work full-time can complete their shift/workday and be at more games
The Big 3 arena teams want to see each other more. The Scottish teams want to see each other more. Win-Win
But...........Belfast is a trip for any team.
Has there been any discussion of the Giants subsidizing travel to Belfast.
I know on my side of the pond Newfoundland (St John's) team has and had to subsidize travel in the AHL, QMJHL and now AHL again.
Also one of the many reasons that Lewiston failed in the Q is because of the expense of buying medical insurance for visiting teams as Canadian Medi-Care isn't covered in the States since there is no universal health care in thr States.
Going by ferry and coach must be cheaper overall I'd have thought?
Depending on geography. I would assume Cardiff fly there and vice-versa, if they took the ferry it would be from Holyhead which is a 5 hour drive from Cardiff at best, it's actually easier to get the ferry from Liverpool to go from Cardiff, and again you're looking at 4 hours.
Nottingham to Liverpool is also quite a trek, same from Coventry with the bad traffic on those roads, the M6 is a nightmare.

Didn't know AJ MacLean of Dundee Stars was Paul MacLean's (Ottawa Senators head coach) son.
Must fit right in from Antigonish Nova Scotia (Latin for New Scotland) to Old Scotland.
Hell no province prides their heritage like Nova Scotia they have pipers in kilts at the NB/NS border to pipe you into the province.
I'm getting e-mails quite often about Okanagan but I haven't had time to really look up the kids. Are they just filling empty seats at this point or are they still pulling in top talent?
