You admit Anaheim gets the 2 best players.
I like Ryan but he's UFA in 3 & his big asset is as a trade chip to a team he really wants to go to if traded. Kane (when signed) will be around a lot longer. & your reports of him being a d-bag are wrong. He writes a blog @ the Wpg. Free Press that is well received by hockey fans.
The Jets deepest position is D so no need for Lydman as a rental. But Sbisa might make someone else expendable.
Maroon & Friberg aren't even tempting. Replace them with Holland.
So the tally for Kane & Burmi would be Ryan, Sbisa, Holland & the 1st rounder (although the Jets might add an expiring contract to make the roster limit even out).
I doubt something like this happens as the buzz around town is that Kane wants to stay & that the #s are very close.
At this point in time, I consider Ryan better than Kane. Thus, I'm not giving the two best players to Anaheim. I do think Kane would suit Anaheim's style better than Ryan does, though.
I don't get the "UFA in 3" comments; 3 years is a long time. This isn't a deadline rental.
Lydman I added as another WPG poster in this thread mentioned WPG wants a shutdown guy; he was one of the best two years ago and IMO will rebound from last season's surgery (the kind which takes a long time to properly recover from).
Sbisa is a no-go IMO, but as Burmistrov is young, I'd be willing to throw in Holland.
Thus, the max offer I'd do:
Ryan
Lydman
Holland
1st
As for the D-Bag comment, I'm basing that off a friend of mine who is the VIP Manager for a club here in downtown Vancouver, of which Kane has visited a few times. He's told me he's arrogant and a cheap tipper, among a few other female-related problems. Of course, that could all be BS, thus why I said "apparently" but that he could still very much be a marketable face for Anaheim. Even if there is some truth to it, being a young rich sports celebrity, I don't hold some drunken nights partying at a club and coming off as a dick against him
How about Patrick Kane for Evander Kane? No, seriously I think they would have similar value and could both use a fresh start.
Someone who has rumors about being garbage and someone who has factual accounts of being garbage?
The differencr is E kane is rumored to not be a jets type player, where as P Kane just strait up is not a jets type player. P kanes done more at this poiny but i cant see why the jets woukd take him.

I doubt Hawks management thinks one of the faces of the franchise needs a fresh start. IDK what team you root for, but the Hawks don't win the cup very often, so I don't think McDonough, Bowman, and crew are eager to heave the cup winning goal scorer.
I think I laughed at a good 80% of these proposals. Why would Winnipeg want everyones scraps that they they don't care whether they go or not? With today's market, for a player or Kane's caliber/upside and the fact that he's not UFA eligible for 4 more years, whether you like it or not, your going to have to overpay to get Kane, and that's the bottom line.
So you don't want to part with one of the main pieces of your core? Guess what, we don't want to either.
Unless it is a young potential star forward equivalent to Kane being traded back to Winnipeg in a one for one swap I just don't see him getting moved.
Winnipeg would be stupid for trading Kane for a older player, a prospect and a pick. This is the kind of return you get for a player with a couple years on his contract before UFA, not for 30 goal scorer with tons of potential that is still a RFA...
To trade for a guy like Kesler/Hemsky and complimentary pieces would be a regressive move for the Jets.
And it's probably because Toronto would be left with such an abysmal d line, and an unlikely resolved goalie situation, that they'd be nearly guaranteed to finish in the bottom 3 this season.
Not sure 11/10 when Hemsky has a .77 ppg versus .60 ppg for Kesler,
Kesler has missed only 7 regular season games since he entered the league in 2003-04. Add on a whole chunk of games for this upcoming season.
Hemsky has had only two seasons out of nine where he's missed less than 10 regular season games. One third of his NHL career has him missing 20% of regular season games.
Those PPG lose alot of meaning if said player is going to be in the infirmary.

Kesler is more of an elite defensive forward than Hemsky is an elite offensive forward (one can argue what actual rank Kesler's is in this department [shutdown ability]). And it's hardly like Kesler has cement hands.
But anyhow, this thread is about Kane.....

Id take this and run if im the Jets but thats only because I think the leafs are going to be a lottery team.
- 2nd line RW
- 4th line LW
- Top four shut down 20-25 minute D, would prefer left handed, to pair with Bogosian
- Good PK forecheckers
- Players with good one timers especially for PP, it seems like every forward on our team does wrist shots
What we don't need:
- More centers (Jokinen, Little, Burmistrov, Wellwood, Antropov, Slater currently on roster plus Scheifele, Cormier, Telegin, Sutter etc.. in the system)
- Goalies, we're invested heavily in Pavelec and have talent in the system
- PMD or PPQB
Depending on where that first ends up, that could very quickly become an awful trade for the Jets. I'd also still put Kane's value at two top-10 picks at the very least - does Gardiner + Ross = a top-10 pick? IMO they don't.
Evander Kane vs François Legault, Pauline Marois and a bag of comic book !!
does he deserve to leave if he's not the franchise face ? does he really want to leave ? soon on your Hockeybuzz cast !! ... ... ... another neverending story !

I would think the one who led rookie defensemen in scoring alone is worth a top-10 pick.

To WPG:
David Clarkson - 2nd line RW, 30 goal scorer
Matthias Tedenby - 4th line LW, former first round pick
Henrik Tallinder - top 4 D man
To NJ:
Evander Kane
Chris Thorburn
Could also involve exchanging some picks although the Devils still have to forefit a 1st rounder from the Kovy re-signing. Zubrus is a player that also may interest Winnipeg given he can also fill the 2nd line RW role as well as PK forechecker but the Devils would want another player back if included in the deal, possibly Cormier.
