Gormley - obvious choice, clear #1, potential: top pair dman
Rundblad - obvious choice at #2, potential: Yandle type 50+ pts
Stone - he was surprising late last season, potential: 3-4 dman 30 pts
Visentin - clearly #1 goalie in system, but will see if he continues to develop
Samuelsson - best offensive player we have in minors, potential: Doan Lite max 50pts
Murphy - Mr. Glass, but if he can turn it around, lookout potential: top pair dman
Shinnimin - A lot of grit for a small guy, potential: 2nd liner, more likely 3rd liner
Summers - Mr. Average, potential: 5-6 dman
Miele - Expected more, wore down over season, needs to take next step, potential: 2nd lineer, although more likely 3rd liner
Lessio - Another I expected more from, potential: 2nd liner, more likely 3rd liner
The problem we have is that we don't have any top tier offensive talent and with us finishing in the playoffs each season, we'll need to pull a Giroux or Perry to get someone that can fullfill 1st line duties.
I thought about it a bit and here's my list. Visentin has so much potential to be a #1 and has progressed nicely since been drafted so that's why he's 3 and Shinnimin was CHL player of the year so he would be a boom/bust type guy if he does breakout it could be in a second line role.
3b. Stone (depends on what you want, but I think Summers is a better skater with better footspeed)
8. Murphy (would be higher if he was not injured a lot)
10. Hextall (others have more talent, like MacLean and Lessio, but Hextall does his job well, and has put himself in a position to earn quality ice time)
I think Rundblad is a bit overrated....he strikes me as an Oleg Tverdovsky clone......
Curious to hear from others why they think he'll be better than Oleg....
I also think 50% of the players on most of these lists will be career minor leaguers as opposed to NHL'ers. Just like BUX7 said regarding prospects like Hextall....another is a darkhorse like Kale Kessey.
From my perspective, Rundblad has 20x the offensive instincts and hockey sense of Oleg. If he makes it in NA that will be why.
An exaggeration but you get the idea.
To me, it's more like they both have 20x the offensive instincts compared to their defensive instincts. I don't know enough about Rundblad's hockey sense but if what you say is true, then that could definitely be the difference between Oleg's career and Rundblad.
