Yea to that argument earlier about him gaining 15 pounds....I think I'm leaning more towards the fact side now with that picture haha.

It looks like a night and day difference just in his forearms

This is awesome news. Did anybody have any idea they were discussing an extension?

Low risk. Most important thing is the cap hit is down when prospects are looking to re-up.

Great player for a great price. Surprised as to how quick he was resigned, but I'm pretty happy.

I'm surprised he signed a 5 year deal without knowing if the new CBA is going to rollback contracts or not.

$3.5mil per for 5 years is a good deal for both sides.
$3.5mil with a 20% rollback is $2.8mil per for 5 years, which is a ****'ing steal.

Nice, 6 more years of Turris!

Next year @1.4 then 5@3.5 is a bargain if this guys keeps progressing.

Hopefully they work on a Michalek extension this year as well.

Not bad. Though I don't understand why players sign contracts a year before they need to. If he puts up a strong season, he'd potentially get several more millions over those 6 years.

Happy with the signing. Both camps took a bit of risk to make the deal happen. IMHO, Turris will more than earn his keeps.

It's guaranteed money. There's always risk that a player could get a career ending injury, especially in a sport with relatively high risk like hockey.

The whole adage of bird in hand > two in bush.

What?
No?

His cap hit as % of salary cap will likely stay the same even in the event of a rollback; going down slightly each year as the cap rises. It's a good deal now, and it will be exactly just as good as a deal if salaries roll back.
