That's my thinking. Besides serious injury problems or a steep and unforeseen drop off in production (both risks in any contract of this length), he's already at worst a very good 3rd centre, or serviceable 2nd. Maybe $3.5M is an overpayment for that, but not a significant one. I could see this contract maybe turning into a not great one, but it doesn't seem likely to ever be a disaster.

I guess we will see if this turns into a good deal for the Senators, but I can't say that based off the very veyr small sample of games played as a Senator that he is worth this.

Just like I can't say that he's NOT worth it.

He spits the bit with a 35-40 point season and that will be a very very bad contract.
Very, very bad?

35 point players get 3.5m on the open market. Turris is, at worst, worth 3.5m. At best, he will be worth much more.

I hope he fails miserably and ends up stashed in the minors in two years.

People tend to overlook the fact that he missed out on training camp which is a big deal.

He was also incredibly snake-bitten.

He could have had a much better season.

Don't be so butt hurt.

You should be hoping that Rundblad ends up better than Turris rather than hoping for Turris' demise.

Time to move on I think.

If I can forgive Heatley, you can forgive Turris.

Murray is way too generous with his contract signings, but maybe this one works out for us.

Worse comes to worse we waive him or just buy him out.
No offense dude but it is people who make stupid comments like this which lead to players becoming whipping boys for their respective teams!

I'm super stoked on this signing, 3.5 per is great value for us especially if Turris continues to improve.

Not quite... it's more to do with small market teams growing at a slower pace than league revenues.

Definitely an overpay but hell probably earn it or come close most years of deal. Not a bad contract

Why not hope for both? Turris is a whining baby.

I expect him 3 out of 5 years to come close to earning that salary. So its not horrible but he's definitely getting paid too much.

Well then I hope Turris becomes a 60 point player and regular Lady Byng winner.

Are you reading what you're typing.

Definitely an overpay and Not a bad contract in the same sentence does not make sense.

This is not for 12/13, the contract extension is for 13/14.

This will be a very good contract.

No thanks. I like the Senators a lot. I wish the best for that team, with one exception. I hope his hockey career is over within a few years.

lol, Sens aren't even at the cap floor... $3.5M for Kyle Turris is hardly "high risk". and the potential for high reward is there.

You should trust some of the Sens fans. We were talking of EK as godly well before this year.

Turris will be an excellent 2nd line centre. Nothing spectacular in points 50-60 but his play without the puck is top.
