I've received several offers for Briere and Meszaros but talks have seemed to die down. I've also received inquiries for Jakub Voracek and Sean Couturier. At this point i'm not sure what my asking price for Voracek or Couturier but i'll listen to ideas.

I might be interested in acquiring a 3rd line center (81 or 82 overall) for a forward rated 80 overall + a draft pick.

Taking offers for Sharp and Hjalmasson. Want a 2nd line center, and other good assets. Want young roster players, not picks/prospects. Primary need is additional forward depth and goaltending help. If you don't, I'm totally going to offersheet someone.

So when the game comes out, will there be a free-for-all for the available free agents?

I wonder if it works like Offline Be A GM and we can all just make offers and the free agent decides where he wants to go

I think EA said that's how it's going to work.
Unfortunately I think there might be some teams (with tons of cap space) that will offer 1 year $10 mil deals to guys rated 82 overall.

I was thinking of offering Brian Rolston 15 million

A lot of excellent former Flyer D men in UFA:

Kubina-Jones
Parent-Eminger
O'Donnell-Bartulis

Yea that's a good point. Is there any way to keep teams with a low salary cap from offering huge money to free agents? Is there some way to limit what the lower market teams will spend? Maybe the free agent just might not be interested in that team I suppose.

With what I've tried in NHL 12 GM mode, the free agents will basically always sign with you if you offer 1 year $10+ mil (if they only want $5 mil or less).

But then again, EA said they've re-done how free agency works, but we'll see.

could we set a limit on how much more than their asking price you can bid maybe?

If UFA 1 is asking for say 5 mil, maybe you can only go over that price by 50%? Making the max anyone can offer 7.5 mil?

Just an idea

If a team has $10 million to spend on an average or mediocre player in free agency, why shouldn't they be able to?

Yeah this is true too. Generally the lower budget teams are in greater need of those mediocre depth players anyway.

But that's the benefit of us getting stuck with the ****tier and low salary capped teams, we can make bigger offers to the free agents. I don't really think it's fair limit the teams with a lot of cap space from offering more money to the better free agents.

Playing with Toronto, not many people are interested in any of the players on my team, which is understandable, so I'll have to turn to the free agent players, but now you propose that I'll be limited with how much I can spend on that? That'd just screw me even more, and other teams with less attractive pieces and the cap space.

OK then I'm more just wondering how it works. So the game will allow all teams to spend up to the salary cap despite not being able to afford that in reality? I guess there's no way to really limit that.
