That's probably (hopefully) what's going to happen. I'd say the cap won't be much different than what it was last year. The owners don't want to have to dismantle their teams. But what the hell do I know, people are crazy and unpredictable.

Anyway, I don't think we would have to replace Gagne. He's nice to have in case of injuries in the top 6, but he's not exactly a crucial piece.

This would actually massively benefit the Kings imo

In terms of talent vs cap hit, the Kings have by far the best roster in the league imo.

If they don't roll back salaries, its likely each team will get to pick a contract which doesnt count against the cap or something like that, in which case the Kings obv pick Doughty and are instantly below cap

Anyone know when training camp is due to start?

Have you heard this somewhere? I think this is a very unlikely scenario.

There has to be some form of cap amnesty. The league won't put 15 franchises in cap hell.

definitely heard it somewhere, have no idea where though, and im 99% sure it was just someone bringing up different scenarios that may happen if salaries aren't rolled back

Are players allowed to use their respective team's training facility?

It is because I am the Pulse of the Hockey Everyman.

And they know I've been looking at nothing but soccer all week.

I would bet that they are. Owners and PA are dealing with this, most organizations (GM on down) are treating it like business as usual, I think. Right up until Sept 14th the players will have normal access to everything, I would think.

IIRC, usually 3 or so days before the first preseason contest.

Haha... Denver Wilson took the Cup to Shane Doan's Ranch...

I wonder if there is a 'significant' lockout , how many Kings players will end up playing against each other in Europe?

Edmonton signed Eberle for 6 years at $6 million AAV. Nice contract.

No problem with this deal. A great young player who will only get better.

Contracts like this are definitely not the problem in the NHL.

That is a good contract for the team's best forward last year

Kopitar has more cups then the Sedin twins combined.

I'm happy we can finally make these flawed arguments.

With his, size, skill, youth and experience, as well as his PPG play and Selke calibre defense, there are very few players in the league I would take before Kopitar. If Sutter keeps the fire under his butt lit, he will be top 10 in scoring and maybe get a little more notice from Selke voters.

The problem with the Sedins is their stats are better than they really are (that makes no sense i know). They are 1 dimensional and they are put into just perfect scenarios to perform. They start 80% of the time in the offensive zone, for comparison sakes, Kopitar starts <50%, and they face soft competition, as opposed to Kopitar who faces the toughest along with the 2nd line

There are lots and lots of players who would score 100 points like the Sedins if used like that. Kopitar, Thornton, Getzlaf, Datsyuk. But those guys are expected to match up vs top lines and take defensive assignments aswell

The Sedins are great players, but are no better than the group of centres with the likes of Toews, Kopitar etc etc

I think its similar to Kopitar's contract. Eberle will meet its expectations, as well as probably exceeding them over those 6 years.

I personally think the sedins are overrated. Their stats are inflated and as you can tell the real danger with them is when they are together, they are pretty good players solo. But not the reputation they have. Imo

As we saw in the playoffs, you need both Sedin twins together at all times. One is not complete without the other. Hence, one Kopitar is better than one Sedin.

They are. They are soft, and they aren't very good in their own end.

They have fantastic vision in the offensive zone, great feel for each other...but they are lackadaisical defensively, easily knocked off pucks, and don't perform well in the big moments as you've seen from the last couple of seasons.
