I would think that if the Cap drops that much they will have to have some provisions in the agreement for teams to buy out at least one contract that wouldn't count against the cap. That would be a gift for some teams like the Islanders. I'll bet they are praying for the chance to buy out DiPietro's contract. Heatlley is probably another.
Possibly. Not sure how that might affect the balance of power to allow teams to buy out long-standing risky contracts like DiPietro. Basically rewarding bad behavior. They might allow some type of modest exemption for certain teams though. And Probably I should expand that range from 58 - 62M. I think that's what we're dealing with here ultimately. We'll see. Meantime this pretty much guarantees (like Shero said) that teams are going to stand pat until they understand what's happening with the CBA.

Huh. I thought their contracts / insurance clauses prevented them from playing in any kind of actual league play, amateur or otherwise, in the off-season because of possible injuries. I realized they do the informal skates (like at the Staples Center recently when a bunch of players got together), but not actual league play of any kind.

Adult league is like an organized pick up game. The "A" league has good talent but guys who don't play physical. They come in all the time and just skate around.
