Maybe someone forgot to mention that adding the extra $4 million in salary might be a bit of an issue?

Financially the Oilers are up about $2 million because the don't have Comrie but signed Oates for about half of what Comrie made with bonuses.

Smith makes $2.3 million, added to the $2 million from last years savings...that means that the Oilers have to absorb Peca's $4.5 and Hammer's $3.6. I guess there are $3.8 million reasons why it wouldn't work.

If money was no object...count me in.

Scatchard is an unlikely candidate to be moved and would Edmonton really take Niinimaa back?

I'd like to see the Isles get Comrie and/or Laraque though.

Isles send 7.55 worth of payrolll over to Oil.
Oil send 4.9 back to Isles.

We can't really, but with the strength of the Canadian dollar, its more likely. Comrie made 4.5 mil last year after bonuses, and he isnt getting getting paid this yr, thats 4.5 right there. Alot OF that went into other players, but still. and either way I know Im a bad GM, but so is Mike Milbury right?

I don't see the two teams as being natural trading partners at all. Both teams want to keep salary down, and would like to acquire young, energetic and inexpensive players.
