Blame Carolina.
Tyler Myers?
Oh, I forgot, he's a defenseman so it's different or something.

Yeah, I'd say it's not that bad of a deal.

Not surprised he got the same cap hit as Hall.

good deal, I love 5 or 6 year contracts, no need to go crazy
can't help but wonder if 6 will be the new limit in the CBA...

Has to be a great feeling for Oiler fans. Knowing that Hall and Eberle are locked up.

This is a brutal contract. Eberle will never touch these numbers again in his career. Makes Hall contract a steal.

For sure. Been a good summer, grabbing J. Schultz, and then signing Hall and now Eberle to nice long-term contracts. Hopefully Smid is next.

You always seem to be pro-Oilers.
So I am confused by this post.

Very fair deal. Unlike the Hall deal, which was based more on potential, I think Eberle's performance so far suggests he earned it.

Also 5.5x7. Longer term and lower cap hit. And yeah #1D is a much harder hole to fill that top line winger.
ETA: Also, this is a good deal for Edmonton. Eberle's earned this kind of term/money.

Yes, playing with Hall, Yakupov, Hemsky and RNH will be a huge detriment to his point totals.

It's possible to maintain a very high shooting percentage when you are a very good shooter that plays with a very good passer. Just ask Jari Kurri:
1980-81 15.8
1981-82 15.2
1982-83 20.6
1983-84 26.8
1984-85 27.2
1985-86 28.8
1986-87 25.6
1987-88 20.8

This signing I get. I didn't get the rush on Taylor Hall at all. He would been an RFA at the end of next year and if there's no lockout, the oiler's would have been able to get a look on what Nail Yakupov can do.

Eberle is also on his ELC next season. He wasn't an RFA.

So long as he keeps up his work this is a great contract.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Seguin get 6 now.
