No Flyers on the list?

Everything went better than expected.

I think Bryzgalov will have to prove he doesn't belong on that list this season. He certainly didn't play like he deserved a 9-year, $51 million contract. Briere's regular season play isn't worthy of a $6.5 million cap hit, either.

Pitkanen hasn't even come close to being overtaken by Faulk or especially McBain. Pitkanen's our best overall defenseman right now. And he's not "declining". He's 28 for god's sake.

If I had to choose, Ruutu would take our worst contract award.

Top 20 OVERPAID and you read:

"While his cap hit is not so bad at $4M/year, the length of Ehrhoff’s contract is, as he is signed through 2021."

Isn't this about cap hit? How is a 30-50 point defenseman that is solid defensively at a $4M cap hit overpaid?

How is Luongo overpaid? He's arguably a top-5 goalie still for just over $5 million a year.

I don't think we can talk about this for over a year.

They use real salary to show how Ehrhoff is overpaid but cap hit to show how Lubo is overpaid. Unfair. Also, given the personal circumstances Lubo went through I think it's unfair to be so critical of him.

And for those of you wondering, Visnovsky will be paid 3 million for this upcoming season. Hardly overpaid.

I think it's likely that Suter will make the list in the upcoming years. Wideman too.

I'd gladly swap Kaberle for Pitkanen, with both having similar salary. I'm not sure Carolina fans would want that tho..

Stastny doesn't look lost... he just looks like a center that has really bad wingers. Not his fault the Avs are building a team on the cheap, refusing to pay for decent talent and instead hoping that their collection of AHL players will magically transform themselves into NHL players.

That said... all pro sports players are ridiculously overpaid.

Not sure how Ehrhoff makes this list unless the person making it somehow managed to watch 0 Sabres games last year. He easily played up to or maybe even better than his contract.

How is Luongo overpaid at 5.33? He's the #9 highest cap hit among goalies in the league. Funny that the author didn't say anything about Bryzgalov eating up 5.66M of cap space.

Pitkanen, Hemsky and Havlat being on the list is also a joke. Specially for the latter two, if they're on LTIR they aren't taking up room. Even Ehrhoff, maybe from a salary perspective but his cap hit is good.

Yeah, a lot of those aren't overpaid. Luongo's contract is long, but he's paid really well for a goaltender of his talent. Same with Ehrhoff. Pitkanen's not overpaid just because he was injured last year, and Faulk/McBain are nowhere near overtaking him.

A pretty poor list, when all is said and done.

I'm not a huge Luongo fan, but people totally exaggerate how "bloated" his contract is. It's not even 6M.

This is flawed. Visnovsky's cap hit is too high, but he's not being "overpaid". Next season he's "only" getting $3 mil, and other than the most recent season, he has lived up to that contract.
