Luongo is still owed +47M on a guaranteed contract. That's pretty bloated in my books.

Do not agree with much of this list. Pitkinen, Visnofsky, Luongo and Erhoff do not belong on there. They may have long contracts, but per season they're far better deals than some in the league.

No reason that Luongo and Havlat should be on that list.

Leino = yes.

Ehrhoff = no. First of all, who cares about the length of the deal? Is the writer Mr. Pegula's personal accountant? No? Ok then, he should just focus on the cap hit. A defensemen making 4m who scores 40 points during a bad season is an absolute steal.

If Brian Campbell was still in Chicago he would be on the list.

Agreed. Ilya Bryzgalov deserves to be there more than Luongo. Luongo's cap hit ranks 9th amongst goalies. That's not overpaid.

Isn't this about cap hit? How is a 30-50 point defenseman that is solid defensively at a $4M cap hit overpaid?
There's a huge difference between a 50 point defenseman and a 30 point defenseman.

And I really don't like the way this article is written. Don't agree on several cases.

Am I the only person here who still thinks Luongo is an elite goalie?

The only thing that surprised me with the Leafs on the list, was the fact that Connolly only missed 12 games. He could have missed 30+ and I wouldn't have noticed. Glad he's gone after this season.

As a CBJ fan, I am surprised that Nash isn't on that list. It's all we heard leading up to his being traded and remains a fact that he is one of the higher dollar-per-point players in the league.

Paul Martin was one of the steadier defenseman in the 1st round exit of the Pens, and prior to this season is most definitely worth the money(and based on his last 20 games, he still is). . .

And then Luongo "slowly fading over the last few years" .

Something, and I'm not sure what it is, tells me the writer of this article is a Flyers fan.

I think the article focuses more on their actual salary than the cap hit. Ehrhoff made $8M last year.

The media doesn't call Nash overpaid though. They love him.

Discuss while we wait for the season to begin...
I find it so funny that the reason given why a defenseman has a bad contract is the points he doesn't put up

Lame article...

But there are players that it does the exact opposite thing too (slights them for their high cap hit even if they're on the tail end of a front-loaded deal). And also Ehrhoff was awesome last year.

His cap hit isn't even high. Look at his stats over the years.

Ehrhoff, Stastny, Havlat, Luongo, and maybe Cammalleri should be nowhere near that list. This list is extremely short-sighted since it's just looking at last season basically, Ehrhoff's a top pairing dman ffs.

I don't know. Tough to say Luongo's contract is bad enough vs his talent to put him on this list and Bryzgalov's is not. BL is owed slightly less at this point, too, is he not?

Flyers' fans and Pens fans alike are cracking up at this. After the first game Laviolette had his troops dumping the puck on Martin's side every single zone entrance he was on the ice because he kept giving it up over and over. The only thing that threw a wrench into this strategy was sitting Martin's ass in the press box.
