My god do not let callers ask question when the hosts have no idea what the answer is.

Someone asked what on the surface seemed a simple question. Why not go to the NFL system.

Brownlee: you just can't do it
caller: why the NFL does
Brownlee: They don't have guaranteed contracts players would never go for it. The players would want part of the contracts guaranteed.
caller: But the NFL does that

At this point Brownlee starts talking in his deep voice and says: Then you'll have players like Hall wanting 20mil guaranteed out of their 42.

Caller: The NFL does this

I just laughed as it's not a simple answer other than saying it's something that would take numerous CBA's to get to.

Just a quick note.

I've been filling in for Jason Gregor a bunch lately, again today and this coming Friday with Jason Strudwick. It's mostly stuff that is well outside my comfort zone but hopefully you all recognize that before hand.

Any requests for Friday's show? No promises but I'll see what I can do.

I want you guys to sit in the (pint?) and not have a single beer.

I do like when Strudwick becomes the guy getting asked questions and then he relates it to his past experiences. The angle that a recent NHLer like Strudwick brings is quite enjoyable.

Really enjoyed the Oil King updates on yesterday's show and I think if there was more of this when the season was on that I'd probably go to more games. Just seems more often than not I have no idea that there is an Oil Kings game on until the next day.

We won't be too hard on you Guy. Just don't take any calls about the NFL and contract guarantee's like the above.

It'd be interesting to know who Struds felt were the toughest guys that he ever squared off with. That said I won't be listening so you might prefer to cater to the listening audience

I would actually ask Strudwick what it would take to go to non-guaranteed contracts.

He talked about fighting a few times, had a couple good stories. Unfortunately that's all I remember.

Someone who can tell us what role Klefbom is playing this year.

Sounds like he is being used as a depth defenseman.

Is he/will he be getting any pp time?

On that note, how has Paajarvi's training gone this summer? Has he gotten bigger? We've heard that he's working on his mental game, but has he changed up is training as well?

Hell I might have to listen if we start getting some of these requests granted LOL!

As much as I'd like to see this, I doubt it happens. I can't recall too many times where we've heard anything about euro prospects other than stuff around World Juniors and such.

Doesnt hurt to ask.

He did ask what we wanted to hear.

Strudwick played in Sweden and may have some connections and possibly Guy does too.

There really isnt too much to talk about these days.

Oh there's a lot to talk about, but apparently Edmontonians don't want to hear about it.

Guy, maybe you can get UofA football teams long snapper on the air Friday. The punter just didn't do it for me.

That's because there were only 2 on the air (including Guy). There should be a 'Punters' Roundtable' featuring Guy, the Golden Bears' punter, the punters from the Huskies & Wildcats, Burke Dales from the Eskimos (as well as Grant Shaw & Derek Schiavone who also punt), and any former Eskie punters still kicking around town like Sean Fleming, Glenn Harper and Hank Ilesic. Because of his stint with the San Diego Chargers, Ilesic would even draw in the NFL snobs in the audience.

Haha, it was a great segment actually. I usually tune out during Gregor's "in the community" segment but that was hilarious.

So Nielson announced on air this morning a few changes in the programming:

Mark Spectors show will now run from 12-2pm.

...and the addition of the Jason Strudwick show. We asked for it and we got it. It will be a late night show and Struds will be on after games(if the season gets underway). I believe they said 9-Midnight. Maybe someone could confirm that time for me though.

In addition to The Jason Strudwick Show from 9-Midnight, The Mark Spector Show is now locked in from Noon-Two weekdays. #pumped

Kinda bummed that Inside Hockey is done.

Hopefully Stauffer can get back Dreger and Rishaug.
