At least be realistic with your negativity...we have potentially 3-5 top 4 D, but what we don't have is a #1 and maybe not even a legit #2, though arguments can (and have been) be made for some.

I agree completely about goalie and 4th line, though. If Duby steps it up, great, but we need some players who aren't strainers who can play 4th line mins.

We have tons of potential all over the lineup. We're going to need to see some results and soon, though.

Two of the biggest pieces of the core are locked up for at least the next 7 and 8 years. There is time to allow complementary players like Pitlick, Hamilton, Klefbom, Lander and Paajarvi to develope and see what we have in Schultz. Now would not be the time to trade off prospects for a quick fix that will marginally improve the team.

First names that come to my mind is Ryan Jones and Eric Belanger. Anyone else on that line is complimentary but I do like Hordi or Petrell who will add some toughness and energy to a game.

Honestly the teams biggest problems imo for the next few years is our 3rd line center and goaltending.

Those "Eberle played soft minutes" comments in the trade and free agency forum are a ****ing joke.

I love how people act like, just because someone wasn't a first overall pick they can't grow into solid and sometimes exceptional players. All Eberle has ever done is exceed the expectations put on him - I realize there's a ceiling somewhere, but I don't believe he's hit it.

I think Horcoff fits the bill perfectly for our 3rd line center. I think thats his niche on our team, albeit with a hefty price tag.

While I don't know when the growing pains of our youth will be over (seems close?), I think our only true issue is goaltending. Here's hoping Dub makes a giant leap this season.

I agree with you that our goaltending needs a big upgrade but I believe that one of Perhonen,Bunz or Roy will pan out. However, it's not the only area we need an upgrade on. We need a 1-2 punch down the middle and hopefully we can get a big skilled C like Monahan,Barkov,Lazar, Kujawinski, Lindholm or Horvat to replace Gagner. Ideally I'd buy out Horcoff and keep Gagner and play him as our 3rd line C.

Where do you think they come from though?

That's right, the "experts", even though that illusion have been shattered long ago.

He's our best defenseman.

No. No he didn't. He played fewer minutes compared to his peers but he was still seeing the opposition's top defenders and checkers during every shift.

Early in the year he was definitely getting easier minutes at home. Not on the road though. By the end of the season Renney was barely sheltering him at all. Even when he had last change.

I am extremely happy with the Hall and Eberle contracts and couldn't care less what other fans think of it.
