Not sure if you saw this - was from our Top 10 Finnish goalies story back in April.

7. Samu Perhonen, 18, JyP Akatemia (Mestis)/JyP A Juniors
NHL Rights: Edmonton Oilers
Drafted 3rd round, 62nd overall, 2011

Perhonen led JyP’s U20 team to a playoff championship in 2010-11 and was one of two goalies from Finland selected by the Oilers in the 2011 NHL Draft. He attended the Oilers’ prospect camp in June but was sick for much of the week and unable to participate on the ice.

His experience in Edmonton was a precursor of the current season – as it has been one of fits and starts for the young goalie, who turns 19 in March.

With Helenius and veteran Joni Myllykoski in net for JyP’s SM-Liiga squad this season, he has split time between Mestis and JyP’s U-20 squad.

He suffered an injury in a pre-season game and missed time at the beginning of the season. Upon his return, he has split time with two other promising 19-year-old goalies – Sami Rajaniemi for JyP-Akatemia in Mestis and Eetu Laurikainen with the junior team.

In eleven Mestis games Perhonen was 3-8 with a 3.81 goals against average and .887 save percentage. His numbers were slightly better with the A junior squad; Perhonen posted a 3.14 goals against average and .923 save percentage in five junior games. He joined the SM-Liiga club at the league’s trade deadline as a third goalie but was not expected to see much time.

Despite his ideal frame (6’5, 185), Perhonen is still maturing physically and has some technical issues he must work out before he reaches his potential.

He's 3 for 3 then eh?

Any commentary on his play?

So Tuohimaa is starting for Jokerit? That's awesome.

I've never seen him play, but I'm worried about goaltending prospects other than Bunz.

They've been splitting duties on the European Trophy, lots of back-to-back games during weekends. Jokerit have one game left before the actual season starts on the 13th.

I think they're undervaluing Klefbom, Marincin, Gernat, Lander, Hamilton and Ptilick.

Maybe I'm just a homer.

J. Schultz should be an 8B IMO.

I'm going to break my own rules and take the player ratings seriously for a second.
I think 8C works well. C means he could drop two spots to a 5/6 defenseman, they give Jordan Leopold, Chris Campoli as examples. I dont think thats a stretch and is still a pretty good bottom end.

No way in hell, the kid is at worst a second pairing d-man in his prime. Too many tools to not be a top 4 guy unless we have 3-4 Norris candidates ahead of him

Homer yes, non of these guys have really proven anything and I think that their ratings match them. I hope that Lander, Hamilton, and Pitlick have a good AHL year.

Just think we still have Eberle, Hall, and Gagner that are still very young but don't qualify to be prospects like other teams like FLD where their top prospects should be joining them this year. When you think about it if you add Hall, Eberle, and Gagner to that mix because they are so young that is just crazy talent we have.

I didn't get to watch Gilroy in college, I've gotten to watch Schultz and he is the real deal.

Not to mention looking at his stats Schultz did much more at an earlier age so I don't think that it's a very good comp.

Personally I'd take out Dillon Simpson, bump some people up and have Pelss in there somewhere.
