Players and agents believe the true deadline will be Oct 11, while Bettman insists it's on Sept 15

After 2004/05 lockout I thought players would have learned their lesson, I guess not.

There should be a large petition from fans all around the league that we will boycott from buying tickets for the entire season...

What if they are threatened to play at 50% of usual attendance all season?

Unfortunately, it hurts the owners and the NHL more than the players... they'd get paid anyway those poor little multi-millionaires

I don't know... just thinking of ANOTHER DAMN STRIKE piss me off. I'd like to make them pay about it. They need to lose ton of money because of it (but not just the owners, that's the problem)

i was thinking of the same thing. we have some power too over here. in fact we have all of it. you want to mess with us? deal with it. that's what i would say.
so, how do we make that happen?

Realistically? We can't. People will buy tickets and all will be well in the NHL.

I will never ever ever stop supporting the NHL, sorry.

Make up all the campaigns you want, I'll still support the product.

I definitely wont buy a jersey, or buy tickets or anything until the season is 100% starting. Once it starts back up, I'll support them by buying their product again.

I've definitely lost a lot of respect for them, and I kind of hope all the casual fans in the south lose interest in the sport, because that would piss Bettman off the most.

Really?

That would create a lot more damage league-wide than you'd think.

Yes, it would. This lockout will no doubt cause a lot of damage league wide, and that's what the league needs to get its **** together.

... can't really think of a reason why that would be a bad thing. The players/league would lose money. I don't care. The players will still be just as good at hockey.

Florida and Tampa have been doing this for years.

All jokes aside, You guys go ahead and boycott. It might even lower ticket prices making it cheaper for me to go!

The problem is not Bettman... It's the greedy players and owners... Bettman is just a luxury puppet

Reading the title gave me some hope, reading the article depressed me lol

Unlike on Tweeter and facebook?

Cancel your tickets purchase, cancel your jersey buying

I don't know... find militants who have time on their hands and no cause to defend? I would but can't take anything else on my back...

Of course, not saying we need to stop following the NHL forever, but finding a "pressure means" (not sure if that's ow you say that, "moye de pression") could be a smart thing to do...

These protests are all ridiculous. Unless they're long-term, which most people won't have the patience or attention span to carry out, then nobody affiliated with the league will notice any significant difference in revenue.

Fans of the sport are upset that there won't be a season next year? Oh no! Why didn't we think of that?! Season back on!

The NHL is under the assumption all fans will keep being fans and they wont lose any fans but i think they are forgetting about the thousands of fans they wont be gaining.

Horcoff, Khabibulin, and Smyth coming off the books in the next few seasons gives Edmonton an extra ~$12M to play with. Sign Yakupov and RNH on the cheap and short-term, and you've still got your core locked up.

But it's okay, people will continue to think Edmonton doesn't 'deserve' picks for 'tanking'

How far are we from completing the new CBA?

What are the chances of having a lock-out so far?

At this point it looks like a lock out will happen definitely. I know we are going to miss out on at least part of the season but I am really hoping I am wrong.

I would love just to wake up, turn on TSN, and for Jay Onrait to be going crazy and the headline being, "NHL Season Saved", but that's just a dream.

I'm just glad the Oilers didn't get a Stamkos or Crosby caliber player drafting first. If there's a season to get the #1 pick its next draft. Luckily the Oilers shouldn't be as terrible. Not a playoff team, but not a lottery team either.

I'd rather Edmonton get the 1st a fourth year in a row than see Toronto get the 1st pick in 2013... just saying.

I doubt Tdot will be that bad. They should be in Calgary position by next year. Not bad but not good either.

They most certainly did earn those picks. They earned them by being horrible. I'm just not so sure being awarded charity picks is something to be bragging about.
