New Jersey Devils news comes few and far between these days, but some broke yesterday afternoon when Slava Malamud of Sport-Express tweeted out news that Devils star forward Ilya Kovalchuk will play in the KHL in the event of a lockout. Malamud claims that if the NHL goes into a lengthy lockout, Kovalchuk will play for SKA St. Petersburg, the same team that almost signed him to a massive long-term contract just a few years ago.

No financial terms of the potential contract have been disclosed. There have been no details regarding a potential out clause released, either.

Once again, I must stress that Kovalchuk will only play in the KHL if the NHL season will be very delayed and/or cancelled, and he will not miss any Devils games should a season be played.

Zug is going to be stacked. Toews&Pacioretty with Gagner just for good measure.

Its unconfirmed but the article says so. However the AHL-CHL agreement is also expired so he could play in the AHL.

The source for Couturier is only speculation. Very, very far from a confirmed thing.

Would be ridiculous for Couturier to go back to the Q, if he can't play in the AHL then he should go to Europe.

I hope the lockout doesn't happen or that no one will sign to FEL.

The SEL isn't giving out clauses this time around.. So if they sign on with Modo, they would be there for the year.

Also, pretty sure Jagr will go to Kladno, the team he owns, and has said before he would try to get giroux to go. Voracek could possibly go as well

Hartnell has talked to KalPa of SM Liiga, which he co owns with Sami Kapanen and Kimmo Timonen, about playing there

Actually it wouldn't hurt his offensive game to go back to the Q and score a tonne. He did a great job as a 2-way player but that led people to overlook how his offensive game still has a ways to go.

Jagr mentioned quite often he would play for "his" team Kladno, along with Plekanec.

There are also rumours of Pavelec, Kaberle, Voráček or Eliáš joining in there, but Pleks and Jagr are "in". (some silly rumor even mentioned Giroux, but I don't buy that for a second)

He has time to develop his offensive game. He scored 27 points while playing on the 4th line with linemates of Shelley, Rinaldo, Zolniercyzk, and Wellwood.. He had almost no PP time

Couturier turns 20 before the end of the calendar year, so he is eligible to go to the AHL.

None of these contracts are official yet, so they could end up signing somewhere else. Pacioretty's agent, for example, already denied his client has a deal in place with EV Zug.

Edit: Anze Kopitar has said he'd play with his brother on Mora of the 2nd tier league in Sweden... but again, nothing officially signed.

correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the SEL have no buyout clause hence the reason why Kronwall and other Swedes would most likely play in Allsvenskan?

The Giroux thing was said by Jagr himself to reporters. Dont remember where I read it, but usually "silly rumors" arent started by the people themselves. All Jagr said was that he was going to try and get Giroux to play with him if there was a lockout.
