Flyers fan here. Do you guys think Mathers has a shot to make it on the 4th line here one day? Also is it true he is one of the top fighters in the OHL? With the lockout coming, I may invest in a tv package.

Thanks

Developing his power forward game, his skating and hands have improved. Fighting is his strong suite obviously. Not many guys wanna go him

I have seen him play a few times and I honestly do not really see him as an NHL player. He had just 17 points in the OHL last year. He has time to get his game to that level but I think he has a long way to go.

And to answer your other question yes he is one of the top fighters in the league. I would put him in the top 3 category.

Who else would you put in the top 3 with him? Say were just talking heavy weights?

If we are talking only heavies and just from this past season then I would say Daniel Zweep. The other guy I would say would be Johnny Mcguire but he may not be considered a heavyweight.

I think the Petes should look into aquiring Jacob Jammes from London.. Doesnt look like he will fit into there roster.. He can play RW or C and could probably play top 9 on our team!

Menard-Quine-Ritchie

Betzold-Findlay-Nosad

Lorentz-Pierog-Jammes

Thompson-Cornel-Mathers

Maguire.

Really like the looks of that.

What would people think of something like....

To Kitchener:
D'Agostini93
+ give then picks back from Puempel trade.
+ another mid round pick.(3 picks total)

To Ptbo:
Pallazzees93(sp)

Why Kitchener does it: Gives them picks to add at the deadline and they still have a very servicable backup in Dagger.

Why Ptbo does it: Gives the Petes that #1 goalie they desperately need, allows for hopefully a decent playoff run. Allows Guigovaz to develop properly.

Yeah.. It got me thinking and Pallazzee's is likely the best back up in the league. Great GAA and save%

I'll take anything right now. This team is going no where without a goalie. Tugnutt did us no favors when he was here.

How does Eric Cornel look so far? Ive heard he looks a tad lost. His work ethic should pull him through.

You've heard correct... A tad bit lost, he's at his best when he is making a pass to somebody in stride. Incredible vision. Sometimes he over passes, kid needs to learn to shoot! Deffintely a growing period for the kid, may need time to learn on the fourth line.

If he adds muscle and starts shooting some to go with his vision, he'll be a very very good OHLer.

zero points in camp, no shoot goals, zero points in exhibition. I'm waiting patiently but I don't think this kid is ready for the league. Not a first rounder and definitely not a third over all player. just my opinion right now. hoping I'm proven wrong but we could of had Fabri, McCann or Ho-Sang

Player I wanted most was Fabbri, kid plays with heart and has skill to boot. Guelph fans will be in for a treat!

But with that being said, once Cornel grows into his frame.. Grows an inch or two, adds 20lbs I think he will be one of the most dominant play making centre's in the league.

And don't forget....he is a 15/16 year old getting accustomed to a new city and new lifestyle, and new school. Once he gets comfortable in his surroundings, it should translate into being more comfortable on the ice. Now correct me if I'm wrong, is this the kid whose dad lives in Peterborough or is it Maguire??

I've yet to hear of a team drafting a kid for what he might do in exhibition or even in year 1 for that matter. Fans need to be patient.

Cornell's grand parents live here and he was born here. Maguire's dad lives here and he is from the Cobourg area

Let's resume this discussion 15 games in......by that time he will have been given ample time to get comfortable and settle into his game. If the kid has any game and is playing 10-15 minutes per, he should show some progress.

Adam Burnett signs with Burlington Cougars. (Jr.A) good news for Adam and the Petes!

Potential opportunity for a 6th/7th defenceman next season!

How come you don't post on the other forum anymore?

Cornel has shown plenty of ability so far.
