1 trade, depth forward or d-man depending on injuries, if the roster is healthy at the deadline, no trade.

13/ Will Jimmy Hayes make the team and start the first regular season game?

No, but he might, I see him being up and down throughout the year.

14/ What position will Hawks end up in the West?
What position overall?

Gonna be tough to score 80+ points with a 50 game season.

That's why I worded the questions as I did, not asking for numbers. Who knows how many games will be played this season. History tells us, that as the so-called bargaining stands now a full season is in doubt.

1/ Who will start the season as Hawk’s 2nd line centerman behind Toews? Who will the 2nd line centerman in the last regular season game?
Kruger, Kruger (unfortunately)

2/ Who will lead the team in goals this season?
Toews

3/ Who will lead the team in points?
Kane

4/ Which specialty team will be better when it comes to overall standing? PP or PK?
PK

5/ Will both ST’s be in the top 15?
Top 10?
Hm... nope, neither will be.

6/ Who will score the most PP goals this season?
Toews

7/ Will Stan and the entire coaching staff survive the year with Hawks?
The season? I think so. But after this season's inevitable early round playoff exit (if there is a season in the first place), I don't think Q and co. will still be here.

8/ How many goalies will play at least 5 games for the Hawks this season?
Name them?
Crawford, Emery

9/ What rookie will get the most points in the regular season?
Saad

10/ How many rookies will start the season with Hawks?
Name them?
Saad

11/ How many rookies will still be on the team come playoff time? Name them?
Saad

12/ Will we make a trade, or trades before the 2013 trade deadline? If yes, what position will the acquired player(s) play (forward, defence or goalie)?
Bowman will probably trade for another non-impact piece. For that reason, it's difficult to predict who it will be since there'll be plenty of those available.

13/ Will Jimmy Hayes make the team and start the first regular season game?
I don't think he will, although I see him playing some time with the big club throughout the year due to injuries to guys above him on the depth chart.

14/ What position will Hawks end up in the West?
What position overall?

5th in West (approximately the same # of points as this past season), 10th in NHL.

We're going to see what will be essentially the same exact season as 11-12.
Again, assuming there is a season.

Except we won't have Brunette in the top-6 (and off the team completely) and I don't think there's any chance the PP is as bad next year as it was last year, despite Kompon. If Q and Kitchen decide to address the defensive system/structure than the goaltending should take care of itself.

Quenneville and the bozos running the show by his side have shown us nothing to warrant belief that they'll change something on this team for the better.

Brunette, whether on or off the team... it's such a negligible point, it's not really even worth talking about. The Hawks will just fill his spot with an unproven rookie or another bum - either way, it's hardly a marked improvement... or they wouldn't just done it last year.

Meh, why won't the PP suck again? All Kompon has done as a PP coach is fail. LA had plenty of talent along with actual net presence and their powerplay was still pretty bad with Kompon. Given the Hawks are bringing back the same roster and just handing over the PP reigns to a different inept coach, well... story will probably be largely the same.

I don't know. I've been accused of being a pessimist, but is this really excessively negative of me? So little of significance has changed with this team, and the things that have don't even look to be good changes... on paper, of course, which as I've said in prior posts is the only thing we have to go by right now. But actually, it isn't the only thing we have to go by. We have last season to judge based off of, a season in which the roster the Hawks put out every night and the guys behind the bench were both - for all intents are purposes - the same as this year's.

So why will the team magically be better? It just doesn't make sense.

Based on this (Wiki-not sure if 100% reliable, but I believe it.)
Quote:
In order to be considered a rookie in the NHL, the rookie must be eligible to win the Calder Trophy. The qualification criteria to be eligible are that the player must not have played in more than 25 NHL games in any previous year nor played in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons, as well as being under the age of 26 on September 15 of the season in which he is eligible.
Therefore, Olsen will not be a rookie either.

It's not even worth talking about? Brunette was on an island last year. He didn't fit on any line or in any role. He couldn't keep up in a scoring role and he took energy out of the 4th. Put in any of Morin, Beach, Saad or Hayes and - at the very least - you have players that keep up in the play and potentially impact the team/produce. Having dead weight on a scoring line takes away from what the scoring line's trying to do: score.

The Hawks PP has been good 3 or the past 4 years, including the year after the purge. It's more than likely that last year was an aberration. There's too much talent to be in the bottom third of the league.

But actually, it isn't the only thing we have to go by. We have last season to judge based off of, a season in which the roster the Hawks put out every night and the guys behind the bench were both - for all intents are purposes - the same as this year's.

So why will the team magically be better? It just doesn't make sense.
People qualify "better" as what happens in the playoffs, so how about this:

If Chicago advances to the 2nd round next year, are they better than last year? In this boards eyes? Yes. Yet, the Cup team was a Martin Erat lapse in judgement away from (likely) being eliminated in the 1st round.. would that have meant they were a worse team than the prior year? No. **** happens in the playoffs.. even the best teams need a little luck. Chicago was crap in 2010-11, yet, if Patrick Sharp puts the puck in the corner on Luongo they could have gone on a great run. Everything went Chicago's way (for the most part) from 2008-10.. that team made it look easy, but it's not, ungrateful fans are simply too impatient - that's the bottom line.

Results oriented business. Hawks got the job done in 2010, failed in 2011, and failed even worse in 2012 by getting embarrassed in front of their own fans in Game 6.

There were a million problems last season, and few if any of them have been addressed this offseason. It is rather silly to expect things to magically be different because a fringe player like Brunette - who played as much on the fourth line as he did on the top two - is being replaced by a rookie who has proven approximately as much in the NHL as I have.
