Mcdavid assisted on a pair of Harper goals tonight, Erie win 3-2 over Niagara. Mcdavid will approach 100 points this season im almost certain of it. Harper and him will be an excellent combination.

I will have to agree with that assessment. I think his first year he'll be more of a pass first player than a shooter, and so long as he and Harper can get something going, then I see a 40 goal 60 assist season a real possibility. The sky is the limit for this kid. And he should aim high... he's got talent oozing out his back pockets.

He isnt the average 15 yr old. 16 in january 2013. Reminds me of Crosby. Harper is probably going to get 50 goals this year with Mcdavid passing to him. He is the best playmaker Ive ever seen since Wayne Gretzky. Im not kidding either. I do believe that he can surpass Sidney Crosby's hockey ability down the road. Mcdavid's talent is rare and incredible to watch. 35goals 65 assists or 30-70 is very reachable for this kid this year.

High praise indeed. I like that you put it out there... he's a rare and special talent for sure. He's the best CHL prospect I've seen since the late 80s early 90s. He has the potential to be the best player in the game...but he'll figure that all out for himself along the way... it's just going to be a lot of fun watching him evolve into a pro. I noticed he seemed a little more comfortable and polished in the media scrum after Friday night's game... looks as though summer media training 101 has paid off already.

all this is good news for Nathan Mackinnon who will now be left be alone to become the player he can be without all of the attached Crosby like hoopla. The media and fans have moved on. But it is going to be sooooooooooooo sweeeeeeeeeeet to watch McDavid and Mackinnon playing on a same line at a World Hockey Championship someday soon.

That would be a great combo as MacKinnon needs the puck in flight and then literally no one will catch him. They gotta hook or interfere to slow him down. But as for McDavid getting 100 points someone is dreaming in Technicolor. I'd love to see him get it but I think a 60 point season where he goes 15 goals and 45 assists is not so lofty but attainable.

I wouldn't be disappointed in those stats (60 points) if he achieves them. I don't think it's dreaming in technicolor to shoot for 100 pts, he will be challenged to hit those numbers, but with a talent like this, he has to aim high. We'll see.

Ya i agree with everyone on that one, 100 points as a 15 year old will not be easy that is for sure. Is it possible yes, but I do not think its likely. However I do feel any where from 70 to 80 is a better estimate.

Its not so crazy to think its possible. I think he can get 60 points in his sleep. There will be games this year where Mcdavid has 4 points in one game. He has these special games and he will have a few this year. 80 points seems attainable. But 100 is also reachable for the kid. Of course 60 is fantastic acheivement. I bet Mcdavid is targetting 100 points.

He'll have to do more to reach 100 pts. He only got 1 assist against an QMJHL team that is going to finish in the bottom half of the standing... That's a preseason game but still... he'll have to do more than this to surpass Crosby.

68 game sched. 1.5 pts per game average. attainable. He can do it. If he doesn't do it, then that ok too. The kid has to set a high goals for himself to challenge himself.

I believe he is going to make the team. Bassin has cut almost all players that would be underagers. The only players left from this previous draft are Hayden Hodgson, Justin Felker, Kyle Pettit, and Connor Mcdavid. It seems Erie will go into the season with those four on the roster. It is not set in stone by any means but is definitely a likely possibility.

Are you judging him solely on one exhibition game? Be right back, finding games where Crosby had one point or less. Yikes.

Anyone who has seen McDavid play regularly knows that he's a special talent.

I am a huge Kyle Pettit fan. Has anyone seen him play the PK? He is incredible to watch. The details to his game are spot on.

I'm not saying he isn't special but saying he'll surpass Crosby while he has yet to play a regular season game in the OHL is a bit ridiculous...

I do believe that almost everyone is saying 'he could', not 'he will'. Just as a point of clarification.

Secondly, my son was lucky to be teammates with Connor last year, kid is a special talent. I think there are some, maybe one, who is posting on here with a bit of an ulterior motive, however that does not take away his skills. I've been told he is one of the best players to come through Ontario in a years.

That said, lets all take a breath and let the kid play. No need to put expectations on the kids shoulders, if he does it, great, but its a long way to go.

Erie has agreed to terms with Artem Kuleshov today and he is expected to arrive in Erie tommorow. He was first round pick in the KHL so I expect him to be talented.

Well i guess Olden will be on the trade block. Sherry keeps this up and hes going to ruin his rep on not being able to get anyone to come to Erie.

I get your point but I disagree with you in the sense that how can you expect sherry to do any different. Olden was the only import before the draft. They gambled on dansk and he signed, I think they gambled on kuleshov as well and now they got him too. Its the best of both worlds, I think sherry deserves a little more credit. He brought in two highend imports in the draft and signed nearly every player from the OHL draft.

Tavares had 77 pts his rookie year. McDavid can do it too.

Olden was also using up an overage spot so another overage guy could be added to help out.
