Mark Simpson (age 17, 6-foot-5 and 175 pounds, Saint John midget AAA)
How has this kid performed. It seems he was doing well from what i can gather on twitter. It seems every time I check game updates he did something well.
He's had a very impressive camp if you ask me. Tall , lanky kid with lots of potential. He's only 17 years old. Skates well , reads the play well and is always at the right place at the right time. Decent shot and has 4 pts , including 3 goals, in 4 pre-season games. He skates back and is sound defensively as well. I think he even surprised team management who were able to snag him in the 9th round. They probably had him as an affiliate player, being a local kid, in their plans until he got to camp. He made a statement and in my opinion has earn himself a spot on the team.

You can't teach size so i hope the kid makes it. If he can play both sides of the puck he could be a real asset for this team.
Erik Robichaud was claimed off waivers by the PEI Rocket and will report to their camp. I wish Moncton would have kept him around but I'm glad he's getting a chance with PEI. Hopefully he'll stick , he's a heart and soul player that gives 100% every shift. One of the hardest workers on last year's Wildcats' if you ask me..
Well looks like they cut Simpson. Kinda disappointed. But without actually watching the games hard to say if he deserved to make the team
I kinda hoped they'd keep him. He definately earned a good look. But at the same time, he would have been used as a 4th liner who probably rotated in and out of the line up. So maybe playing Jr A with lots of playing time will help him more for next season.
Well even if he dosn't , I'd rather gamble on someone of his calibre over guys like Krammer, Kurali , Pulis , Fedosenko and Manavian who came over and were busts.

Well remember that you are on a contending season according to Flynn and that would be a huge blow unlike the Titan who really never heavily rely on their Euro draft.
On the other hand it just happens that the Titan got two very good young Euros drafted in their contending year too.
The single goal of any young Russian wanting to play in the CHL is to be drafted the following June.
Will there be a lockout or an NHL season?
Will there ven be a draft next June?
My thought is that he got some pretty sweet offers from the KHL for this season with an affiliate....and possibly also from the national Junior program.
I bet his agent is at work at the present time looking around for him.

But I could be wrong.
Remember the Kabanov saga?
This isn't even an issue. He will be here once his paper work is completed. He wants to play here and has already turned down KHL to pursue the NHL dream which will pay more.

that's just what you are wishing and hoping. He'll be in Moncton and outscore either of Bathurst's euros.
The great thing about him is he's only NHL Draft eligible in 2014 , so he's here for at least 2 seasons. Maybe 3 or 4
Hey! i havent been here in quite a while. What's your take on some of the players cut from camp...Belliveau for example, his second camp, and cut early enough considering they seemed to be high on him. Not so much the drafted players this year, more on last years draft picks. after 2 camps....it can be much harder to make the team as 18 and 19yr old rookie.

Newcomers I thought had good camps are Gagne , Hynes , Beaudoin , Simpson , Stavert , Bradley , McCabe and Sweeney. I think Gagne, Simpson , Stavert and McCabe will have the best chances of making next year's team. Newcomers that had dissapointing or bad camps , imo, are Whitlock (although limited) , Pitre was ok but thats it , Power , Spears , Proulx , Belliveau and Labbe. I think Belliveau may still have a chance next season. He's only a 95'. He needs to get stronger , he's a very good skater, makes smart decisions , decent shot. His strength and physicality are what's holding him back. The players I didn't mention were average/medicore.
