Late Round (3,4,5,6,7) 2012 Drafted Prospects who were Steals

Each draft year there is usually a few late round steals examples:
Henrik Zeterberg 7th Round 1999
Pavel Datsyuk 6th Round 1998
Henrik Lundquist 7th Round 2000
Jamie Benn 5th Round 2007

Which 2012 Draft Eligible Prospect do you think will top out as a late round steal for the 2012 draft.

I have high hopes for Seth Griffith. Gusev has great talent if he comes over.

On the Sens?
Maidens was supposed to be a first rounder, but suffered a bad injury in his draft year that caused him to fall to the third round.
Also Vilkstrand performed very well for Sweden at the Sweden WJC camp this summer.

Extremely early to tell, but I had to take a shot in the dark, I would say:

Calle Andersson
Tim Bozon
Brady Vail
Joey LaLeggia
Ryan Rupert
Anton Zlobin
Seth Griffith
Esa Lindell

If Kevin Roy can get past his size issues he should be a great top 6 option. Destroyed the USHL last year. 104 points in 59 games.

With the universal (to this thread) caveat that it's way too early to tell... Daniel Zaar (CBJ 6th rounder) looked very, very promising in developmental camp. He already looked like a sniper-to be, and kinda caught the attention of, well, pretty much everybody here.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

For the Wild, I really like Adam Gilmour (4th, 98) and Daniel Gunnarsson (5th, 128).

This is going to turn into mostly a mix of "my teams prospects" or high profile prospects who fell for reasons that are probably going to be clear in 5 years when those players are either in the AHL, Europe, or out of hockey completely.

I'll go with the former. Gemel Smith (4) and Brandon Troock (5) look like solid picks with good upside to be NHLers.

Tomas Hyka, LA Kings 6th, 171. Needs some muscle and he is good to score a lot.

Adam Pelech seems to have been a good pick in the 3rd for the isles.

there's a difference between late round steals turning into an NHLer versus turning into a star like those guys. That's not something that happens a few times every year.

I think the Oilers have had a few, Gernat, Hartkianen, Rieder all picked after the second round.

Agreed. I was just throwing a few extremes out there. You could also for example call Matheiu Perrault a steal for where he was drafted

Lots of goalies. Thomas and Vokoun were both 9th round picks, when that was a round that existed. Miller was a 5th round pick in 1999.
Sooo, I suspect at least a couple of the 4th-7th round goalies will end up in the NHL, possibly with good careers as starters.

Jaynen Rissling
Daniil Zharkov (if he can translate his skills into production
Charles Hudon
Jarrod Maidens
Nick Ebert (despite his plummet was surprised to see him drafted last)
Connor Carrick
Christian Djoos
Seth Grififth

All possible candidates to develop into steals in my opinion

Yep. Think this was a total steal.
