I know Gordie is tops, but who is #2 and how close is Chelios if he plays next season? He turns 45 Jan 25th.

Is there anyone who is older than Gordie Howe in professional hockey history? I mean if you don't count the 15 seconds Gordie played a few years back with the Detroit Vipers of the IHL. Didn't Tretiak play into his 50s?

So depending on when that one game by Moe Roberts was, one can safely assume that if Chelios finishes another year he'd be #2. Thanks as always, pnep.

Tretyak (25.04.1952) retired after 1983-84 season.

Jacques Plante played until he was 44 in the NHL (72-73) then went to the WHA to play another season at 45! At 44, he was aquired by Boston halfway through the season and went 7-1 with a 2.00 gaa!
