E. Staal, J. Staal, Semin, Skinner, Ruutu, Jokinen.

Not bad.

Maybe Semin will be motivated to have a good year to stick it to the Caps and then sign a huge next after the season.

Meh: I prefer the Cane's top 6, but I prefer our top 9.

If we sign another top six forward (RW Shane Doan or RW Andrei Kostitsyn are the best options remaining), I think our top six would be as good as Carolina's.

WPG: Kane, Wheeler, Ladd, Jokinen, Little, Kostitsyn/Doan
CAR: E. Staal, J. Staal, Semin, Skinner, Jokinen, Ruutu

AK had less pts/gm than Welly... (although I've mentioned many times Welly was helped by puck luck)
Plus Welly is a playmaker so fits better inour top 6 thank AK.

I really like what Carolina did to improve their roster this off-season. Not at the expense of staying in the SE division with them, though. With Captain Kirk behind the bench for them I see the 'Canes usurping Florida this year and, maybe, Washington. They were already playing night-and-day better under Muller before they added J. Staal + Semin. Hopefully Ward implodes in net.

Massive overpayment. I was one that was hoping the Jets didn't sign him. I also don't want Doan or AK...maybe I don't see what others are seeing in them.

I am ok that we passed on Semin as well. I have no idea what the issue is but the fact such a talented guy waited this long for a 1 year deal, all be it a nice one year deal, seems to be a bit of a red flag. sometimes the best deals are one ones you don't make.

To me, Wellwood, while not perfect, was a better fit for that last top6 position than Doan, AK, and Semin. Not that I would of been angry if we picked up one of those three... just thought Wellwood, being a more high IQ playmaker, was more of what we needed for our top6 that's filled mostly with shooters/snipers.

I never believed that TN would ever get into bed with someone like Semin. Lots of flash, not enough staying power.
Carolina's obviously interested in immediate gratification.
TN is willing to wait for the right partner.

Does anyone have that recent list of ticket revenue/NHL team?
I think Winnipeg was in the top 10, depending on how it was sorted? Can't find the link.

At just 19 years of age and a rookie last season, Gabriel Landeskog has been named Captain of the Colorado Avalanche. Wow. Cool in a way, I think he's a natural born leader, but 19 is so young and inexperienced.

He will be the youngest Captain in NHL history at 19 years, 286 days. Just 11 days younger than Crosby when he was named Captain.

This does not suprise me at all. everything I have heard about Landi from people I know say he is 19 going on 30 and definately the most natural leader on the Lanch (with O'Reilly). Remember this was a guy who joined the Kitchener Rangers and barely spoke English and was named the captain of the team in his second season. I know plus minus stats have to be taken with a grain of salt but last year Landi was a + 20 and the next closest player on the lanch who played more than 20 games was O'Brian at a +2 and everyone else on the team was a minus. The kid is a beast and a natural leader so this was going to happen pretty soon.

I say good for him... if he can handle it, he deserves it. This kind of kid doesn't pop up often and if he continues to progress, he could be a franchise player.
