Thanks, I'm getting something together for CannonFest, but this one was pretty special. It was a mad scramble to get highlights of the other teams, but it was great to shake things up from my "norm" by making something that fans of other teams could enjoy too.

That was what made the Central Division Tweet Up pretty cool as an event. Even though most of the fans there were Jackets fans, it was cool to be able to buy a Wings fan a Stinger Bomb at the R-Bar and talk about how much Crosby Sucks.

It was awesome when the video was shown at the event to hear each fanbase cheer for there highlights, and then cheer again when a highlight happened against another team (Jackets fans cheering when Nashville eliminated Detroit for example)

Well, the franchise being relocated was where Terry Ruskowski had been coaching all this time...

yesterday a co-worker asked me (after I told him I watch hockey), whether i'd ever heard of the hockey players Datsyuk and Filppula... he said his friend's dad is one of the team doctors and last time he was in Detroit he went drinking with them. Said both of them were hilarious, also were super generous with the drinks but would only buy people raspberry Stoli.

NY Ranger player Rick Nash had a nice tribute in the Dispatch today... I will admit I've rarely if ever seen a player do this.

One thing not under debate, Nash is a nice guy.

Prospect Article

For those of you interested in my writing (or, should I say, both of you? ); here's my most recent article, on current Lightning prospect and Spokane native Tyler Johnson:

http://www.thescoutingreport.org/tyl...ence-pays-off/

This is what I'm hoping to see the Jackets get more of - guys who may not have the skill level, but are willing to show up every night and work their ***es off for whatever success they can get.

Enjoy!

Iím not a sport writer professional as you but this I can tell you, the CBJ will be a spunky team this season, a hard team to beat too.

That said, they will not make the playoffs soon simply because they donít have the goods to complete with the better run and established organizations in the NHL. The new roster will give the fans a decent bang for the buck though, enough to keep them excited for a few more years.. with some luck the CBJ will be purchased by a hockey guy owner who knows the game..and league.

I would hardly call myself a professional

That being said, I agree with you 100% ... I think this team will surprise people in a good way, and I truly believe that we're building in the proper direction. People can say what they want about our prospect pool, but I would say that we have some real hidden gems in there, and with the competitors that are going to play in the NHL, they should have plenty of time to develop. And, those three first rounders next year will all be quality pieces to add.

I seem to recall the basic premise of that article of "the Cup held hostage" - never mind that it's only a consideration in a true doomsday scenario - becoming untrue in 2006. Which the author almost acknowledges, seemingly by accident. ("They only SETTLED the case, the losers!" )

In any case, though, I don't mind the tone. I have no problem with "We are great and awesome" - but I get really, really intense when it becomes "We're awesome because YOU/THEY SUCK". Be your own awesome; don't tear down others in the process. Or, IOW, the only part of that article that actually offended was the swipe taken at TBL.

The Unabomber would be ashamed to see something this stupid and rambling bastardizing the word "manifesto".

Just ran across this article about Stralman's re signing with the NYR:
http://rangers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=638709

It's from July, but the paragraph about his stats with the CBJ are startling. I actually liked Stralman, but he was often "sick~injured" with some sort of sinus deal, if I recall correctly. As he was one of the many whipping boys here, the paragraph below shocks me. Maybe more of a reflection of how bad the team was, rather than how good Anton is???

In 2009-10, Stralman established career-highs in games played (73), goals (six), assists (28), points (34), penalty minutes (37), power play goals (four), power play assists (18), power play points (22), and shots on goal (121) as a member of the Blue Jackets.

He led Columbus defensemen in points, assists, power play goals, power play assists, and power play points, and tied for second among team defensemen in goals that season. He also led all Columbus skaters in power play assists, tied for second in power play points and fifth in power play goals.

And how many times did he completely blow his defensive coverage resulting in a goal against or a very high quality scoring chance. I don't think anyone was *****ing about his offensive output, but as a defenseman [even an offensive one] you have to be able to defend at least a little bit. Torts probably railroaded Stralman until he played the game that he wanted, but that's what having a good coach with a strong presence can do for you.

I'm pretty sure there's a quote somewhere of Torts saying he did not like Stralman's game when he first arrived in NY. Of course this is in an article about how Stralman turned it around, so it's okay to say stuff like that.

Edit: Here's the link: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...idnt-like-him/

Well, how does a team in Phoenix help the league??
