I'd say it's more like having too many Marmitons. Which you can't.
Dudley and Timmins are both the head scouts for their respective elements. Everybody else files reports, don't take decisions.
Scouts always fight for their favourite prospects. They convince the head scout to see their favourite prospects and fight for their guys on the draft floor. They don't make decisions, but they certainly advise.

Off course they do.
They always will.
Yet, it's a 1-man decision. 1 cook, a team of marmiton. As it should be.
Start to worry if you see a Prospect Selection Committee.
Talk about a specific job task. Don't bother scouting anyone else, just the FA's, John.
You know what? We have missed out on the good NCAA free agents with Philly scooping all of em.. and now Tampa got Brown. We have B.Nash but could use some better NCAA FAs.
Hmm, I don't think we can judge a player's scouting ability based on the way he played the game. It's great that management is expanding the scouting team, but we really won't know what Madden will bring us until players actually get drafted or signed.
We've seen good players fail in management positions before. I'm not saying Madden will fail, but we really have nothing to judge him on if it's his first gig. The intentions are definitely good, we'll see how it plays out.
True but he has a good head for the game and i think that's good attribute to have from the start. But you are correct in saying that this doesn't mean that he will be successful.
I guess we'll really be able to judge his body of work in a couple of years.

I don't see the problem, we already have scouts for 18 year-old that are going the NCAA route and that we could draft, he will look the undrafted 20+ year-old already playing in the NCAA.
I think its a good idea just for the image side. These kids will see Madden scouting their games and will have the chance to talk to a guy who had a nice career in the NHL which is probably a bonus when trying to convince them to join the Habs instead of other teams
I think this is a very interesting hire especially considering he'll be scouting specifically UFA NCAA prospects. Madden seems like a smart player (won a Selke) and was an UFA NCAA prospect signing himself who went on to have an amazing career.

I expected a lot of changes, but I'm surprised at the amount of hires by Bergevin. What's funny is that most of these players probably would have never signed here as players!!!!
