Honestly I can't even be pissed to trust a "study" like that. Monsanto and companies like them invest fortunes yearly if PR that makes them look like good guys. In reality they are the most evil, soulless, ******** on the planet when it comes to food.

Yes, of course "organic" crops are going to be subject to the elements and infiltrated by **** from non-organic crops, that can nary be avoided. However even if organic crops contained equal trace amounts of pesticides and hormones I would continue to buy them simply for the fact I am not supporting some ******* corporation be it Monsanto or otherwise.

Also, if you read the linked article in the 'Annals of Medicine' here is the important blurb the article you link somewhat misrepresents:

Quote:
Two studies reported significantly lower urinary pesticide levels among children consuming organic versus conventional diets, but studies of biomarker and nutrient levels in serum, urine, breast milk, and semen in adults did not identify clinically meaningful differences. All estimates of differences in nutrient and contaminant levels in foods were highly heterogeneous except for the estimate for phosphorus; phosphorus levels were significantly higher than in conventional produce, although this difference is not clinically significant. The risk for contamination with detectable pesticide residues was lower among organic than conventional produce (risk difference, 30% [CI, −37% to −23%]), but differences in risk for exceeding maximum allowed limits were small. Escherichia coli contamination risk did not differ between organic and conventional produce. Bacterial contamination of retail chicken and pork was common but unrelated to farming method. However, the risk for isolating bacteria resistant to 3 or more antibiotics was higher in conventional than in organic chicken and pork (risk difference, 33% [CI, 21% to 45%]).
SIGNIFICANTLY lower among children, however negligible in adults. Why is that? I can give you one good reason right off the bat. Adults in this generation have been eating total garbage almost their whole lives. The organic craze has only become as big as it is in recent times, and a lot more children of the next generation are eating better because their parents are buying better food. Chemicals the body cannot process stay there either forever, or take an incredibly long time to remove, because we were never equipped to deal with them. Aspartame is a prime example of this:

Quote:
Methanol (10 percent)—Methanol, also known as wood alcohol, is a deadly poison. It is gradually released in your small intestine once the methyl group of aspartame encounters the digestive enzyme chymotrypsin. Inside your body, methanol breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde, the latter of which is another lethal neurotoxin and a known carcinogen, which passes freely through your blood brain barrier to cause brain damage.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), methanol is considered "a cumulative poison due to the low rate of excretion once it is absorbed. In the body, methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde and formic acid; both of these metabolites are toxic." The EPA recommends limiting consumption of methanol to 7.8 mg/day. A one-liter (approx. 1 quart) aspartame-sweetened beverage contains about 56 mg of methanol. Heavy users of aspartame-containing products can consume as much as 250 mg of methanol daily, or 32 times the EPA limit. Signs and symptoms of methanol poisoning include:
So it would make sense that children who have been eating healthier than we did over the past 10-15 years have a much lower amount of these kinds of chemicals hanging around.

To downplay that fact, is rather disingenuous on the part of The Raw Story.

Our food is killing us all slowly and our generation is going to get the worst of it. It's hard to say for sure because our bodies can be incredibly resilient and adapt, but it wouldn't shock me if by the time we are in our 40s we start seeing cases of weird cancers that were previously relatively unknown or, at least, rare. Food is supposed to help the body heal naturally, age much slower, and make us more efficient overall. It's doing the complete opposite. You are what you eat, and what you eat affects everything from your temperament, energy, general well-being, brain-power and emotions.

Maybe organic isn't all that much better for you than GMO, but maybe it is. I'm certainly not going to just say **** it and eat GMO to save a few bucks because this "study" told me they're not that much different.

Haha, that was proof? Are you kidding me? I think even some relatively sensitive bystanders would cry upon witnessing someone die tragically. Give me a break. She cried because that's the natural reaction to a traumatic event, especially involving a loved one. It doesn't mean she recognized what he wanted her to all in that short time he was lying there "dead."

Quite frankly, I would have told him to go **** himself after that selfish stunt.

To each their own.

I've been out of work for a year and 4 months. I worked in Hoboken for a financial coming making nice money. Was laid off due to "company restructuring". Found a temp to hire job at a pharmaceutical almost 4 months later. ****** bags fired me 2 days later cause I "wasn't a good fit chemistry wise". And it's been pretty much nothing for me ever since. Have gotten interviews and finished 2nd in the running to 3 or 4 places. In the meantime, I went back to CSB, got an internship at Sirius, and I am about to start a 2nd one..Hey, I got time!

Haha..my connection in Brookstone literally guaranteed me a job. She's the assistant manager. Manager came in later that day, said he doesn't have an opening in the schedule right now.

Pretty sure you aren't even allowed to wear headphones (but everyone does it)

I didn't have any connections when I got my summer internship, I was just in this program offered by my high school and they sent me to a company placed me at my job site. And I'm hoping they'll bring me back next summer since they always rehire their past interns.

A heads up to anyone that likes Starbucks, LivingSocial is offering a $5 gift card that doubles to $10. I figure that means more pumpkin spice lattes which is never a bad thing
