KHL (Kontinental Hockey League) 2012-2013 season

Since the season is due to start momentarily and we don't have a thread for the season yet, I had to start one.

That being said, have a good season!

The season already started yesterday, this thread is too late

I loved the opening game. It was intense and exciting, and as the result it seemed to me that the 3rd and OT were over in 15 minutes. The shootout round was a real pleasure to watch as well.

Finally, the off-season is officially DEAD & GONE!

This season looks even more interesting than last year's. I'm particularly curious to see if Dynamo Moscow can keep up with the great POs they had last season and if all the money CSKA spent will make them at least somewhat more competitive.

Also if NHL'ers come, if Nail Yakupov comes back to Nefekhimik, if Buchnevich breaks through in Severstal, if Kuznetsov becomes a league leader- all very interesting.

I hope for a really nice season with a lot of tight and exciting games. Three very nice goals today scored by Amur against Atlant. Especially the 2-1 was a great counter attack.

Slovan looses to Donbass at home, as I expected Slovan will be the new Poprad this year.

Oh my god. Every team outside former Soviet Union is failing in KHL.

I don't know, what do you mean by failing? According to KHL 6358 people at Lev game and 10305 in Bratislava. And the games were close. Seems ok to me.

Nah. Not failing in a way that no one wants them. I was just a bit disappointed after Poprad was so weak last year (but still they had a goo attendance for that small arena in that small town). And then I really hoped for two strong additions to KHL and Slovan lost at home and when I was writing that Lev was still behind 0-1.

A lot of people had Lev jerseys already. Not sure if that was part of a marketing campaign but its good when fans identify with their clubs. And quite a good attendance by DR fans too.

PS:

How does it actually work with the away fans in KHL? Are there a lot of them? I follow the league from its beginning but IMO mostly Russians support their team who live in a certain place. How is it done if lets say Lev fans want to see a game of Praha in Yaroslavl? What about Visa? Last year sometimes Lev fans coulb be seen in Russia.

I think it's a bit early to judge. But in my opinion Slovan and even more so Lev have more competitive rosters than last year Poprad had. So wait and see... Donbass are quite an impressive team and I guess Slovan will not remain the only team to lose at home against them.
