Yes, I was off on Bielkie and Groulx, but at 1 out of 3 my scouting wasn't that bad.

Braun is, and always has been, pegged as a solid 2-way defensive prospect. One who plays a more cerebral, non-physical game. He has decent offense, better than average defense, and average skating. This has been the talk on him since before he was drafted if I remember right. So it's no surprise that he's coming in exactly as expected. What he has never been known for is a significant amount of offensive creativity or high-end skating ability.
I exaggerated the barely being a prospect part .. but the skating was an issue to at least a few scouts. I remember it being his agility and acceleration that was below average at the time. Hell it was noticeable before last season. Not last season though, he definitely improved.

Stepped on some legos. Day to day. No clear return date as of now.

Damn, we really got a steal with Burns, he's a tough dude.. legos are way more painful than any hockey stuff you could encounter.

So true. And they leave those little red dimples that can be noticed, or even slightly annoying for up to minutes afterwards.

I think we're on to something here. What if the Sharks lined the entire visiting lockeroom with legos? They'd win every game!

In fairness, I'm laid up right now with a cut on the bottom of my foot from stepping on a metal pokey thing in my room. Can't walk, gotta duct-tape a bag over my foot to shower, the works. It's a nightmare. I'm being extra cautious not to get it infected.

... getting close to 9/15. I look for any UFAs that are going to play in the NHL (or want to this season) to sign pretty soon.

Tommy Wingels

Love this kid agressiveness. Really fits Bottom 6 player role.

But have my concerns as to whether he becomes a regular in 2012-13.

Where do you Shark fans see him fitting in?

3rd or 4th liner at this point, his play this season will determine where from there he
goes.

I don't think there are any questions as to whether he will be a regular. The speculation is that his play last year made McGinn expendable. As stated, he should start on the third line and his play will dictate where he goes from there.

While I'm not sure I'm disagreeing with you, I'm still bitter about the McGinn trade.

There is no revisionist history that can make the McGinn trade a good one. It was bad at the time, it was worse immediately after, and as of right now it still looks bad. Wingels is a 3rd liner mostly because the bottom 6 stink.

I agree, we should have kept Jaimie, and our bottom six are questionable, especially the AHL player we have penciled in as the 4th line center.

You may not care much for Desjardins' skill set, but calling him an AHLer after playing all of last season with the big boys is simply false. A few more post like this, and I'll just assume he slapped yo mama.

I have no confidence that there will be a full year this year. Not even excited in the least for hockey. I'm spending most of my time here on the soccer/football/baseball boards. Been a bummer of an off season.
