Sort of, in the sense that everything is determined through dice rolls and it is a strategy game. Apart from that, the games differ quite a bit. There is trading involved and a bunch of other stuff. It's hard to explain. Your best bet would be to read the rules or just jump into a game. It is very enjoyable though.

Using phone for hf now comp for nothing seems to be hovering around 1.5 hours seen it drop as low as 75 minutes though
