Sure it does. They're both entertainment. That's like saying I shouldn't compare an action movie with a history book. I spend money on both to entertain me. The price of admission for a baseball game on average is cheaper than a hockey game. Sure, there are twice as many to attend but that doesn't mean I can't compare them.

Are you saying that you think baseball salaries aren't out of hand? Hell, hockey salaries are out of hand too! All major sports have ridiculous amounts of money tossed their way. It makes me sick. I'd never NEVER buy a season ticket package to support this crap. It just means they'll keep going up astronomically like they have been. The only way to get the bleeding to calm down is to stay away.

I am not a Nielsen home so my tv watching won't make a shred of difference. I go to maybe one or two games a year for sports. The prices are just obscene. Like it or not, you ARE saying it's ok by showing up game after game.

Contracts like this bank on people continuing to show up and say its ok to pay out the nose game after game, year after year. I'm not saying that it shouldn't increase with inflation and such. But its like buying a Hummer in today's economy when you're complaining about gas prices.

I'm saying there's no salary cap in baseball.

As for the price of tickets, it's supply and demand. I only go to a game or two per year for the same reason, but there's no use complaining about it. Prices won't go down unless demand goes way down league wide, and that just doesn't happen.

In laughable news: Melky Cabrera made a fake website for a product to claim his positive result for PED wasn't his fault. He got busted. Suspend him longer imo.

It's all but confirmed that the Bisons are dropping the Mets affiliation, and signing with the Blue Jays.

This is really great news.

That trade would likely have to be in the offseason as Adrian Gonzalez would surely be claimed on waivers from here until the end of the playoffs.

He already was put on waivers and the Dodgers were awarded the claim. Same with Beckett, though he can veto a trade.

Wait, how can they trade him if he's claimed at all on waivers? Am I confusing things here? I thought if a player is claimed, he's either taken back or awarded to the claiming team.

And Crawford is scheduled for Tommy John surgery.

When a player is claimed, he can be pulled back, awarded to the claiming team, or his team can try and make a deal with the claiming team.

And Crawford had surgery the other day, I believe. I really don't understand how he became part of this.

After a poor showing attendance-wise against the White Sox, the crowds should be pretty big for their upcoming homestand. Word on the street is that Thursday and Saturday (vs Yanks) are already sellouts, and they're not far off for Friday. Then, for the Rays series, they're rolling back their prices to 1992 levels to celebrate the 20th anniversary at Camden Yards. During lunch I went and bought myself some $4 Eutaw Street bleacher seats--can't beat the price, and the close proximity to Boog's is a secondary benefit.

A's clinch the AL West.

Yankees can clinch the AL East with a win or an Orioles loss, while the Orioles can force a one-game playoff with a win and a Yankees loss.

I will not be surprised in the slightest if Granderson is ever found guilty of juicing.

more importantly....

Ben Sheets throws his last professional game/inning...hats off to a class act, US champ and player who certainly deserved much more than injuries allowed...what a great player

also chipper jones hits a single in his last regular season at bat....3rd best switch hitter of all time...good for him
