Potter would be the easy choice if Paajarvi shows that he belongs in the NHL. Petrell\Peckham and Hordichuk were all recently re-upped so they are safer. Having said that, any of them can be traded for a late pick to create room.
In today's NHL you need 10 NHL ready Dmen in your system. Teams would gladly take Pecks as a depth Dman.

Hall-Gagner-Hemsky
Yakupov-RNH-Eberle
Smyth-Horcoff-Paajarvi
Hartikainen-Belanger-Jones
Hordichuk

There's a lot of flexibility on the wings, but all that matters is that the team has two lines they can rely on to not get slaughtered if they're on the ice against top players. One line isn't enough because we know that Horcoff and Smyth can't support that weight on their own. It also makes things even easier for the RNH line. A fourth line that can actually take shifts would be nice as well.

And I'd fully support Hartikainen in the AHL if Eager actually shows up and does what he's supposed to do, but in terms of visual evidence between them I've only ever seen it from Harti.

Edmonton is only my 3rd favourite team but I'd go....

Hall – RNH – Eberle
Yakupov – Gagner – Hemsky
Smyth – Horcoff – Paajarvi
Eager – Belanger - Jones
Hordichuk

I'd also carry 8 defenseman because I'm not sold on the defense, so I'd want to put pressure on the top-6 to perform because there are two guys here waiting to take your spot the first chance they can. I'd sign a vet off FA for the #8 spot though. Maybe an Alexandre Picard.

Looks like Kruger wants to have set pairs instead of lines.

I would have the following pairs:
RNH-Eberle <- no brainer
Gagner-Hemsky <- been mentioned a lot
Paajarvi-Yakupov <- speed to burn and skill to kill

That leaves Smyth, Hall and Horcoff to fill out the top 9.
Horcoff to center Paajarvi + Yakupov makes sense
Hall and Smyth can switch lines depending on the situation. I am sure Hemsky would prefer Hall on his line and Smyth would prefer the dynamic duo on his. Horc should be happy with Paajarvi and Yakupov as linemates.

My make the vets happy top 9:

Hall-Gagner-Hemsky
Smyth-RNH-Eberle
Paajarvi-Horcoff-Yakupov

Smith and Eager could potentially swap places but doubtful considering Eager's play of late [and his entire career]. Petrell and Hordichuk will likely swap for each other. There will be injuries and call-ups though, but I expect Hordi to get about 35-50 games and Petrell to get 70+ as the season goes on and injuries pile up. They're underrated grinders and both play their own special roles which are invaluable.

Id really like to get Boychuk somehow for #2RHD slot. but here it is with what we currently have:

Hall Gags Eberle (good line from when rnh went down)
Yaks RNH Hemmer (would prefer hem on lw but he cries when that comes up, rnh had good chemistry with hemsky in the season opener vs pens.)
smyth horcoff Harti
Eager belanger Jones

PP1
Eberle RNH Hall
Smyth JSchultz --smyth net prescence

PP2

Horc Jones
Smid Petry (boychuk)

PK2
Belanger Smyth
NShultz Sutton/Whitney

i do realize it goes against the grain but they do get my top pp with Ebs on his wroing wing as he likes it.

RNHis THE best centre and my perspective was with Eberles good play making skills it was better to split them up and share the wealth.

if you need a goal perhaps you move them back together. Hemsky and RNH actually worked well together in he small time they had and Gags didnt do too shabby with the Hall and Eberle wings (8 pt night).

Eberle did pretty good without RNH in his rookie year. I dont think its an end of times move.

With Jones and Petrell resigned I don't see PRV or Harti on the team this year. I can see Jones not being resigned this year and Harti being on the team the following year. There will be enough injures that PRV will get time in EDM on the top 6. If he performs EDM will move Hemsky and hopefully his value will be higher.

This would be my pencilled in lineup. You can move people around based on performance/injuries. Many people want to break up the first line, but barring a coldstreak I say don't mess with a good thing. Also I disagree with moving Yakupov to the off wing. His one timer is not something you want to trifle with and he needs to stay on the right side.

If paajarvi shows he belongs still send him down. I want to see him rip up the NHL and if he is ripping the AHL up in the first 40 games call him up. Stop putting this kid into the NHL because every time we do it he just loses his confidence and becomes Cogliano 2.0. Let him properly develop!

I expect to see Harti up this season. By the end of the season (if there is one of course) he'll be a regular on the Oilers imo. He's that big physical forward that the Oilers need in the top 9. Who gets moved out in his place? Well they'll probably have plenty of injuries (again) so no one may have to be moved but I expect one of Jones/Petrell/Eager to become expendable when Harti shows he's capable of sticking on the roster. If MPS proves he can stick as well... then you'll certainly see bodies traded away.

I agree. And Eberle looks good on the left too - picking corners from in close on the left. Ditto for Paajarvi - he looks like a completely different player playing on the right as opposed to the left. On the right he drives the net and makes things happen. On the left he lobs muffins in the goalies chest from inside the blue line.

Hall - Gagner - Hemsky
Eberle - RNH - Yakupov

I totally agree with the bolded. MPS actually has a quality slap shot on his wrong side. I was hoping OKC would try him a bit at centre. he has good defensive training from the SEL and has the body build. I think it would actually be an easier adjustment for him than Hall, considering the 2 way hockey employed in the SEL. He is also pretty simple North South from his own zone to offensive entry which i like. Save the dazzle for once you get into the zone. With the type of wingers we have now he wont have any shortage of options to help gain the zone and manipulate lanes.

I am not as big a fan of this idea. Hall and Yak play a similar style of all out attack with speed and create space by forcing d-men to chase them. I'd prefer to spread that open space out to both our top 6 lines.

Hall - RNH - Eberle
Hemsky - Gagner - Yakupov
Smyth - Horcoff - Paajarvi
Eager - Belanger - Jones
Petrell, Hordichuk

Smid - Petry
Whitney - J Schultz
N Schultz - Peckham

I dont like Belanger as 4C. He is too soft. Oilers need someone grittier.

Hall - RNH - Eberle
Hemsky - Gagner - Yakupov
Harti - Lander - Jones
Eager - UFA gritty center - Petrell

Time to move the veterans and bring in the kids. 2013-2014 lineup.

Lander looks like he'll be lucky if he makes it out of the AHL, let alone past the 4th line or even being the 13th forward.
