I dont really think Brassard is that number one center the leafs need, but I do feel he has plenty of skill and a change of scenery would help him a lot.
STOP. Just STOP!

This has a Tim Connonly repeat ALL over it.

I wouldn't give up Blacker for Brass right now, let alone... that.

The last time Derick Brassard was significantly injured was four years ago during his rookie year (the same time as Connolly, amusingly enough). Since then, there has not been an NHL season in which Connolly has been within four total games played of Brassard; Brass has missed at the most 8 games per season since then.

Also, Brass is 24. Connolly is 31. Subtle difference there.

Not that I'm any more willing to consider this deal, but I'm tired of the "Brass is injury prone" mythology.

Central Division pairings:
Chicago - Keith/Seabrook and Hjalmarsson/Leddy
Detroit - Lidstrom/White and Stuart/Kronwall
Nashville - Weber/Suter and Klein/Josi
St. Louis - Jackman/Shattenkirk and Pietrangelo/Colaiacovo

Northeast Division pairings:
Boston - Chara/Boychuk and Seidenberg/Corvo
Buffalo - Some combination of Regehr/Sekera/Leopold/Myers
Montreal - Gorges/Subban and Diaz/Emelin
Ottawa - Kuba/Karlsson and Gonchar/Cowen
I don't think this really helps your argument. the defense are pretty comparable.

Three of the four best defense pairings in the National Hockey League* versus Chara, Karlsson, and Subban, and they're "pretty comparable"?

*: Girardi-McDonagh being the other. Tyutin-Nikitin would be in the conversation too, except they play for Columbus so 1) they wouldn't count for this discussion and 2) nobody takes that assessment seriously except the advanced stats people.

Any team would take this deal if it was offered.

Yet, here we still are debating it.
Because we haven't determined a winner in the "we want it less" department.

Just quit it, okay? We don't need those pieces. We're not interested in trading Brassard. Doesn't matter if it's a "ripoff trade" in Vacuum Market Value. It is bad for the CBJ because we do not need those players and do not need them. Stop trying to defend them as though we're insulting Maple Leafs by saying "no". Most of us do not have such a low opinion of them, and the rest of us Just Don't Care.

It is bad for both sides. Accept it and ****ing quit already.

I'm not saying you need to make this trade or that you need these players.

Strictly from a value perspective Bozak+Blacker+a pick is greater than Brassard.

That is all i'm saying.

But value doesn't exist in a vacuum. Value is related directly to what a team needs.
