Yeah, you have to remember that the deal that gets passed just has to have a majority approval. It doesn't have to help every team in the league. I'm sure there will be some aid in the deal, but all of those teams that were spending like crazy aren't going to get away from this without some discomfort.

The problem is, most teams have spent like crazy. According to capgeek, 16 teams are over $58M and 5 are right under the $58M mark (including us at $56M). There will definitely be ways to get under the cap for the rich owners.

All of those teams that are over aren't in the same boat. Some of those teams are going to have an easy time getting under. I think it's safe to say that there were enough to explain why the most current offer doesn't have any easy outs for those that are way over.

There aren't any easy outs because they don't expect this offer to be accepted anyways. And maybe they're hoping that adding an out later could be seen as a concession by all parties. Players, rich clubs and poor clubs. Trick them into thinking you're giving something away.

It was a major concession whether the deal it was made in was accepted. The PA can circle back on that concession, now.

I'm willing to bet the final, agreed upon CBA will have a higher cap than $58M for next year. That will make it easier for some. And ultimately if needed they could grandfather old contracts at a fraction (somewhere between 90 - 100%) of the cap hit any new ones will count for.

In no way will the players accept another rollback with real money leaving their pocket.

Ducks D Francois Beauchemin said he's fully recovered from shoulder surgery in late April. Was one of several NHLers skating at Anaheim Ice.

Beauchemin's tear was apparently not as bad as Lydman's but I do agree that his play will likely suffer this season, especially compared to how good he was last year.

It would not surprise me to see Lydman bounce back to close to 10-11 form and steal his spot alongside Fowler. I've always thought they would make a good pair and if Beauchemin's play suffers somebody will need to step up and play top pairing minutes.

I think you make a good point. Lydman has been very solid when healthy. The last half of last year he looked much improved from the first half. He could easily step up this year, similar to his first year here. And if Beauch is still recovering they might very well swap spots.

Great to hear from Bobby those things:

http://www.ocregister.com/sports/rya...ray-point.html

But, wtf (other) Bobby? Our GM actually even isn`t reached out to Ryan.
Ryan is happy with situation between him and coaching staff, but, obviously isn`t about him and front office.

Really Bob Murray, REALLY?

He still sounds like a *****. "Its not my job to reach out to him". Bobby Ryan in a nutshell.

I guess I'm a bit surprised Bob hasn't talked to him yet, but I can understand why. Having a player pop off like that makes his job that much more difficult, and Bobby did it right as the whole NHL was watching.

I dont think it is his job, really.

In that article Bobby expresses more will to stay here than, say, Perry has expressed in his whole career. I dont understand your anger against him.

Ryan was the one that was out of line the first time. If he thinks what he said was stupid, which he himself admitted, then he should take the initiative to clear things up.

What he basically just said is, "I was wrong, but it's not my job to fix it." He sounds like a child.

I don't understand why you bring Perry up. You're right, he's never said anything stupid to the media, and has kept his intentions internal. Ok.

Yeah that part is a little disappointing. He admits he did something wrong, but it's not his job to clear the air? Just shut off your phone and hope nothing happens?

Overall my impression is that he's still not 100% happy. But he would be content either way as long as there's some direction.

Personally Id like Ryan to approach Murray as well but I don't think it's a huge deal. He should own up to his mistake but its clear that he's just trying to hope it's all forgotten.

And for the record, dont get caught up on the main board. Had several conversations with Ryan lately and in no way do I believe he's "just saying what he has to".

He may not be available, as I'm sure he's involved with the CBA talks and other business, court cases, etc.
