Only to be replaced by sixty threads asking for Perry and Getzlaf.

This article is just Ryan saying the things he HAS to say, the other article was him saying what he actually felt.

It's like when players give interviews between periods that say "We're going to go out there, give 100%, you know all lines are firing, we need to get some bodies to the front of the net and you know, come out hard in the 2nd and get some goals"

I'll sum up the article, it basically says "Yeah I said some things that I regret because now I'm talked about in trade rumors EVEN MORE. Anaheim staff didn't really care enough to say anything to me so I better just tell everyone that I want to be here and hopefully they'll leave me alone."

So, you're saying that a player that wants to be traded has to say that he doesn't want to be traded. Clear as mud.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not but the answer is yes, a player does have to say that he's happy where he is and does not want to be traded.

Read the thread title. This thread is about Ryan not asking to be traded. If he wanted to be traded, saying that he doesn't want to be traded isn't something he "HAS to say".

Oh sorry, what I did was read the actual article, not just the thread title. My mistake.

Yeah because when Ryan himself says he's tired of trade rumors and they should just get it over with -- and that he'd enjoy playing in Philly -- everyone else is supposed to ignore it because it upsets Ducks fans.

They had no trouble ignoring what was said after that, so why not?

Let me clear some things up for some people here in regards to trades in professional sports. Players do not ask for trades publicly because it pisses off management, fans, and teammates in the (likely) event that they do not actually get traded. Bobby Ryan is trying to fix the mess he's made, that's all. Only he and his teammates know what he actually wants.

Exactly. Players never ask to be traded and leave it out there to feed speculation.

Just to clear things up since so many people are quick to say that Ryan "wants out of Anaheim"

also interesting that JVR was supposed to be the key piece in acquiring Bobby but Murray wanted Schenn. I would've asked for Couturier personally.
Nothing really suprising here. I think it was obvious that the preference was to stay in Anaheim, but he was sick of being put on the block.

As for Philly offering JvR, of course they did. Ryan is a big winger who can score, JvR is a guy with the potential to do that and who Philly had lost a little patience with it.

Ryan will always "want out of Anaheim".

Once you have the trade rumor disease it doesn't go away.

Meaning...? How many players actually talk about their next contract when they still have 3 years remaining?

Ryan has never said he wants to be traded, he's said he wants the trade rumours to stop, whether it was being traded or not

He obviously still has problems with management. This article does nothing to indicate that he's content in Anaheim. It sounds like an obligatory interview, saying the cliches that someone in his position is supposed to say. But the way he talks about management suggests that he's holding back what he really wants to say.

Which is what Ducks fans have been trying to say since the draft.

Have you even followed the Ryan debacle at all? The guy is extremely frustrated that his name keeps getting brought up in trade talks. He doesn't want to leave at all.
