Wow. Great signing. I thought he would get about 1 million more.

Why would he get $1 M more? He's not a UFA and not a high drafted or prestigious young player. I would've expected him to get a discount considering the term if anything.

This is gonna be one of those signings that's gonna look good for 2 or 3 yrs of the contract and bad for one 1 or 2 cos he plays the type of game imo where he'll have lost of ups/downs.

Big contract for someone who has only played two seasons, but they wanted to lock him up.

Seems about fair if the team has confidence he'll be a 50-60p guy.

It's not just you. Granted, Marchand is coming off a very good season but 4.5M? That seems like a lot.

You think Brad Marchand is a $5.5 million a year player?

I think it's fair. Could totally see him getting RFA offers in the 5M range.

everyone hates playing against guys like that, and would love to pick them up.

What players get paid and what they're worth are two different things.

Seems fair. I *think* that covers 1 UFA year. Should be worth it if he can get close to 50 points a season.

Only 2 season but an important piece to the Cup winning team and also a big time factor in the Canucks series keeping his best for game 7. Kid can step it up, it's a fair deal IMO

Why? That's part of who he is and why this is actually a fair deal, guy has intangibles.

I'm okay with this. He got market Value I think. Of course you have to remember he's older than you'd think for a 2nd year Player (older than lucic, which blew my mind),'but he's an dynamic offensive player with decent defensive and outstanding pest abilities. I love me some marchand

With recent signings... this is great term and dollar. Nothing too long-term and the value is just right. I think everyone wins on this one.

I don't really considering diving to be an intangible (a positive one), but that's just me. I agree that Marchand needs to cut that crap out because the guy can play.

I like his chippy play, but diving doesn't belong in Boston unless it's from a stage. Leave that to PK. Hate when a Bruin does it.
