For now I'm operating under the assumption that the rule will remain in place.
There are GM's pushing for it to be reduced to 1 year. The most vocal about it has been Yzerman.

It's definitely not a forgone conclusion that the agreement will remain the same.

Ludvig Byström have impressed during preseason and earned a pro contract with Modo.

Emil Molin selected to Team Sweden for U20 4 nations tournament in Czech Republic.

Some of the Swedish posters I've talked to seem to think Bystrom was a lock for the U20 roster. Any idea why he failed to make the team for Lake Placid and the 4 Nations Tournament?

Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update.
I guess he didnt impress enough at the camp they had before Lake Placid. Missed it before but Byström is on the roster for the 4 nations in Czech Republic aswell, time to shine.

Not sure if anyone has posted this, but Devin Shore has signed an ELC. Looks like he will still head University, for at least a year.

I don't have a link... but trust me... I know ...

Must have agreed to the deal in principal, without actually signing it... Because you are absolutely right on that point

That would still get him kicked out. If he has actually come to terms with the Stars he'll probably be playing CHL.

Across the board, teams are signing players to ELC's quickly, and the primary reason seems to be the threat of ELC contracts going to 5 years.

I didn't actually think there was any chance that would happen, but several hockey commentators have mentioned the proposed increase in ELC years as a big factor in the large number of ELC's getting signed this summer.

Regarding Shore, I know Barrie should be starting training camp any day. Most OHL teams start between now and the end of next week. I believe most colleges are in classes already or at least moving in to campus. It's a bit strange if he really is signing an ELC. I would have expected it to happen sooner. He seemed pretty adamant about the NCAA route.

All three Dallas prospects in the European Trophy are in action tomorrow.

Brynäs: Emil Molin is playing on the top line with Calle Järnkrok tomorrow against Pardubice (Czech Republic).

KalPa: Finnish translations on Google aren't great, but I think Henri Kiviaho is starting tomorrow's game.

Jokerit: No update on lines or D pairs, but Lindell made the trip as on the 8 defenders traveling to Switzerland.

Lindell scored his first goal for the Jokerit senior team, a pp goal against Zürich Lions in the second period. Game still underway.

Jokerit came back form 0-3 to win 4-3 against HIFK after shootout, Lindell was the only player to score in the shootout.

Lindell with another assist, set up the opening goal for Jokerit in a 5-1 win over HIFK.

Based on the SM-liiga season preview issue of Finnish hockey mag Jääkiekkolehti, Lindell is now listed at 190cm/86kg.

That's 6'2 190 lbs if you're scoring at home. Which is basically the same as what he's listed on the Stars' site.

I don't know if I know less about the Finnish magazine Jääkiekkolehti or how big 190cm/86kg is.

Radek Faksa has been skating has the Rangers number one center, but according to the local paper they are using one of his wingers primarily on faceoffs.

He is playing with two excellent goal scorers as for now it's reported the coach decided to load the top line with his three best players rather than spread the talent over two lines. He's currently slated to have Tobias Rieder and Matt Puempel on his wing.

not about a Dallas Star prospect (yet) but I just got back from the home opener of the AJHL Fort McMurray Oil Barons and one player that really stood out was Alex Cromwell, a former Midget AAA Star. I overhead one of our scouts talking to some people at the 2nd intermission and they think he's going to be a real dominant player in the AJHL given some experience He definetly showed some good passion in a game where the Barons went down 3-0 early and most of the team looked out of sorts.

btw, I'd suggest you all find some really good junior hockey to watch the next 3 or 4 months.

I used to watch a lot of minor league hockey 5 or 6 years ago whenever the Kings were on TV, somewhere along the way they became an NHL team and even won a Stanley Cup, so it's pretty desolate otherwise.

I'm a little spoiled this year, I will get to see a lot of MacKinnon living 2 blocks from the Metro Centre in Hali. Tough to get really excited about it, but at least it's a plan B.
